Xanax taper Help

Hi y'all glad I found this group!

Let's hope that all of us can post in the success stories soon!

I have been taking Xanax .25 mg up to 3 times a day for about 8 weeks. It has been helping w/my anxiety/insomnia tremendously. I have also been on 10 mg Lexapro for about 6 weeks. 

I want to taper off Xanax. My psychiatrist won't help me because it's an old prescription and I don't believe she wants any part of the responsibility. She just told me to take as needed. I expressed to her my concerns about stopping too fast,but they fell on deaf ears. She doesn't feel as if I've been taking them long enough to get withdrawals. I'm familiar with the Ashton Manual, but that entails gradually switching to Valium which I can't get.

I have enough Xanax to do a taper.

Any advice here?

Just want to get off the benzo coaster before it gets more complicated. Part of me wouldn't mind staying on it. They work "too good".
