Lingering bizarre symptom after 2 years.

Recommended Posts

I have been off benzos for over 2 years after a nasty withdrawal.
I feel that I am 90% recovered, but I have this lingering and very strange symptom that started early in my recovery and hasn't gone away.

I am hoping someone has experienced this, or knows what it could be.
[Of course my Dr thinks it is 'anxiety' ... but it isn't.]

This uncomfortable sensation is somehow connected to the natural 'waking up' process.. maybe cortisol or adrenaline?

It is like a wave of a really uncomfortable sensation, it feels like it starts in my chest and throat and radiates down my arms.

I have an accompanying headache and It almost feels like a wave of a really uncomfortable falling sensation.

No racing heart, sweating or any other anxiety symptoms.

I have it every morning just as I wake up, it lasts maybe 20 seconds and is uncomfortable enough to make me groan and physically flinch

It happens as soon as I become conscious, but once it passes I feel fine for the rest of the day.

I only have it when I wake up naturally, if I wake up early with an alarm I don't have it.

I am fit and exercise regularly with no issues.

Anyone have any idea what this crazy thing is?

Im not sure what it is. But I know virtually every symptom we can imagine is possible. But if you didnt have it before coming of the drug or before taking the drug, im sure that symptoms will go away eventually.

I had Strange symptoms myself. Hope this was of some comfort to you. Congrats on being over two years off, well done.
