About Gaba levels returning to the normal state after tapering off of Clonazepam.

Does anyone know how long (weeks) it takes your brain to return to the normal Gaba levels you had before you started the discontinuation of Clonazepam.

I mean, everytime you do a cut.

Any personal experience or links?

I think Equilibrium is the term for this?

Thank you, and be well.

I don’t think anyone knows the answer to that because it hasn’t adequately been studied or researched.

From what I’ve read, the GABA levels in the brain are just fine.  We have sufficient GABA.  The problem is that the volume and density of GABA receptors has been reduced as an adaptive measure to benzos flooding our brain with GABA.  The brain wants to balance things out, so if you’re going to take benzos to feed more GABA into the brain, it’s going to reduce the volume of receptors.

The GABA is there for the taking, but it’s like going to a well without a cup (the GABA receptors).  We’re haphazardly scooping up water with our hands rather than having a nice cup to collect the water and drink out of.

My neurologist says GABA receptors function and density is typically restored within a few weeks or months but that’s not always the case. It varies on the individual.
