Clonazepam taper

Hello, 

I have taken Clonazepam for 15 years. 
 

on average I take 1MG a day but can take more. I want to taper this. I also take atenolol for heart palpitations and don’t want to aggravate those symptoms. 
 

I’m quite nervous since I’ve been on them so long and will take as long as I need or get the script to taper…. I mean I imagine this could take years if possible at all. 
 

what are strategies someone has used very very carefully?

@[...]   Welcome to Benzo Buddies!   Glad you found us.   I am not an expert on tapering, but there are plenty of people here who can give you excellent guidance on your taper.

Deciding to taper is a big decision.   You will have lots of support on this forum.

Hi @[...], may I ask why you want to taper the Clonazepam, have you started noticing odd symptoms, or do you find yourself taking more than you used to?  Also, if you don't mind my asking, why were you prescribed the Clonazepam and have you mentioned your intent to taper to your prescribing doctor?

I wish you the best whatever you decide.

Good news is my palps left a few months after quitting 30 years of 1mg Klonopin. They haven't come back. Hope the same for you.

You will want to SLOWLY taper off. 

Maybe try a 5 % cut at first and see how it goes. Give it a few weeks.

Use that time to read tapering posts. And possible challenges tapering this stuff.
