Therapy During Withdrawls Help or Worsen?

Hello everyone

To recap..I am 2 wks into cold turkey withdrawls from 9 yrs of Klonopin PRN avg .5 mg taking a few doses a month, sometimes a few days a week through the yrs ending w 1mg at dentist apt.

I just wanted to share I started w a new therapist, now 3 sessions in & I dont think I will be comfortable enough w her eventhough someone finally, on paper, who takes my ins, checks the box for C-PTSD, Inter Family Systems & Brain spotting exp.

 

The first 3 sessions she pretty much let me carry on, just about my frustrations, issues & I feel our session last week she left me floundering like the others w no structure, not very reassuring or nurtuting... leaving me in a frustrated somewhat worked up state. I told her I am getting off Benzos, expressed frustrations w Psychiatry Ind, she I dont think has exp w identifying or navigating this situation & said a lot of her clients also avoid benzos where possible.

 

I guess I feel raw & exposed, & dont feel I can trust the "Profession" if shtf w my withdrawl process, let alone start digging up past childhood trauma during this time as its working me up & I feel it would take someone much more proactive & engaged.

 

I have been through several therapists through the yrs & only have one amazing profound exp with it. At my age & situation I feel I have to keep doing the healing myself & I dont trust 90% of these "Mental Health Professionals" I have only been physically & now emotionally harmed by them.

 

I guess I am tired of spending $$ and time on that endeavour. Anyone else relate? Thanks for reading my long post.
