Rescued Dose Question

Recommended Posts

Hey all, Ive been benzo free for over 2 months after a short stint with klonopin (1mg at most) and Valium (4mg). I was on them for a total of about 50 days. I thought I’d never touch a benzo again and was proud of myself for being free of them for this long. I’ve been struggling with withdrawal and got very desperate last night and gave in to .5mg klonopin. I feel like I’ve made a colossal mistake and have ruined the progress that I’ve been grinding out for weeks. Is this is situation where I’m starting over? Very concerned…

No, you're not starting over and you can relax. One rescue dose will generally not do much harm. But we usually don't recommend the use of rescue doses - it's a slippery slope. In my opinion it's not worth the risk. I would just get rid of the leftover pills, so you don't have to face the temptation of taking it again.

But right now, don't beat yourself up over it, it happened, and most likely nothing will come of it.
