Sleep Apnea Worsening as I Taper

Recommended Posts

As I near the end of my Diazepam taper I am no longer sleeping through my sleep apnea.

On one level, it's probably a good idea to address it, as being oxygen deprived while sleeping isn't healthy.

However, on a short term level:  since I'm not medicated, I awaken every 2-3 hours gasping for air, in a panic.

Not only am I dealing with panic first thing in the morning -- I'm dealing with it on and off all night.

Meeting with a sleep disorder specialist next week.

A lot of people mention waking up in a panic, and am wondering if it's related to oxygen deprivation / sleep apnea.
