Liquid Valium - does it have to be diluted?

No, there’s nothing wrong with using the manufacturer’s liquid ‘as is.’

There is a misconception here at BenzoBuddies that the manufacturer’s instructions for the 5mg/5mL oral diazepam solution indicate the liquid should be diluted to 0.1mg/mL or even 0.01mg/mL before use. This is NOT the case.

The official FDA label on the bottle supplied by the manufacturer to dispensing pharmacies states:

Dilute before using to enhance palatability.

The patient pamphlet from the manufacturer explains “dilute to enhance palatability” as follows:

For ease of administration, add the dose [as measured from the undiluted liquid] to approximately 30 mL (1 g. oz) or more of juice or other liquid. May also be added to applesauce, pudding or other semi-solid foods. The drug-food mixture should be used immediately and not stored for future use.

Hi, @[Fi...].  I use the 5mg/5mL oral solution ‘as is’.  It does not taste well; however, I quickly became accustomed to it.  It is certainly easier for me to dose it ‘as is’.

Thank you.

I'm nearly done with my taper and suddenly though - have I been doing this wrong?

Am doing everything possible to avoid side effects, so relieved.

You’re welcome.

Second-guessing our decisions is quite common during withdrawal.  I’m glad we have been able to ease your mind.

Congratulations on being nearly done with your taper!  We are cheering you on to the finish line and will look forward to hearing from you when you reach it.
