Cigarettes acting like a stimulant?

Recommended Posts

I posted this under anxiety, insomnia. I used to smoke 2 cigarettes a day,  a couple puffs put in the garage a few times a day. Since having issues with benzo and tapering, cigarettes now makes my symptoms worse, feels like a stimulant and cause extreme stimulation, tension, anxiety, tingling, numbness. Had to quit, that's a good thing but odd.  So now I'm going thru 2 withdrawals at once! I thought cigarettes relaxed people? It's odd.

Anyone have this happen to them?

Yeah, time to quit, I've learned u can't have any stimulants, just didnt think cigarettes would do that but I've read that they are a stimulant, it's odd they used to relax me.

Thanks for responding

Yes best on giving them up. I did and it and made my fitness go through the roof.

Just cut all stimulants out. I have a couple beers instead and that helps also indica cannabis helps also but if you never had much cannabis it will send you into panic attack and the cannabis needs to be 100% indica like afgani strain

Meetooyou, i already quit, can't have any stimulant, can smoke pot, cbd, I cant catch a break! I have been hearing of people who start healing,  feeling better in aroundb6 months to a yr, then they change they're diet, eat some sweets, you know what we all crave during withdrawal, something different, but once they do thus, me included,  symptoms return. We're so ready to move on that we try to rush, now I'm having histamine issues with foods. It's tough, I'm little I need fat! So it's been tricky to navigate this. Nut butter sandwiches anyone? But the bread has sugar,so have a few sandwiches a day, blueberries and milk. You've had the equivalent of a soda! I eat 5 eggs, wheat bread, avacado, fat milk for breakfast. Avocados are a high histamine food but I need the fat! I'll be finished with my taper in about a week, have a lot of healing to do, specialists etc. We have to take care of our brain and our body to heal, feeding our brain the right foods but also educational food, therapy type food for trauma, ptsf, anxiety. Cbt etc. I read so many comments on here where people are just hanging out waiting for they're taper to end and suffering, but we cannot be so still that we get apathy of our brain and body. You can get therapy on YouTube with Emma on therapy in a nutshell, she's great, but they're are many and you can mute it and use cc tv for those with tinnitus. I hope people will read this and ck it out, I'm not going to rot while I'm tapering, I know it's tough to get up, get moving etc, but it will be slot tougher on us if we don't feed our brains and move our body.  Not stimulating too much but enough to keep healthy.

Anyway,  didn't mean to go on

a tangent lol, just have concerns for so many here going thru this journey. It's a tough one, I get it but I'm not going down without a fight or my faith!

Have a good night!

Sn

I used to dip (probably 7-8 smokeless tobacco pouches a day) and in my first month off, I noticed that I my symptoms would get revved up after use.  Just like you mention.  So, I quit cold turkey.  I was hungry as hell and constipated for a few weeks, but I got past it.

I do get cravings sometimes, but I think a lot of that is due to boredom.
