Hey everyone, I'm writing in here because for years I've been struggling just to get into an honest withdrawal proccess, I tried several times cold turkey (needed to screw myself a lot of times for understanding this is not the way to go, this is my opinion...) For years I took 4mg as a standard dosage, this means that I would take this amount and during the weekends, mainly Saturday, I would just go "crazy" and take 10, 20, 30mg... I know this is a lot, I needed 1 year of cognitive therapy to finally understand that I don't need this, so it has been 1 month and 2 days that I'm on 4mg ONLY, not taking more or less, I'm taking Valerian root sometimes to calm down, but for now this has been working, I've been feeling mild depressed and anxious, but I'm functional - I can go to work, drive, go to the gym... Still there's some kind of confusion, for years I've never been this sober! (I'm not drinking alcohol or using other drugs). But I'm a little lost on what to do next, should I stay on 4mg untill I start to feel better than reduce? Thanks!

Hi @[He...], great first step in getting on a consistent and manageable dose, it seems like its working well for you.

It sounds to me like you’re ready to begin your taper since you mention you’re functional.  What benzodiazepine are you taking, that will determine next steps.

Glad you’re not using alcohol at the moment, that can really mess up a taper since it acts on the same receptors in the brain.
