Transferring from Klonopin ( clonazapam) to Valium (diamzapam )

I read in Ashton manual it’s better to taper of the longest acting Benzo ( diazepam ) has anyone switched over successfully and can give me any tips ? I’m on 0.75 mg a day of Clonazepam currently (One 0.5 mg pill in the morning and 1/2 a pill in the early evening ) - thanks 🙏🏻

Switching to diazepam is definitely an option for those who are on short acting benzodiazepines but not everyone needs to.  Clonazepam has a fairly long half life and most of our members will taper directly from it.

Why are you considering tapering off the medication, are you experiencing odd symptoms?  We typically suggest reducing your dose by about 5-10% every couple of weeks or whatever your symptoms will allow, using them to guide your taper can help keep you functional.
