Some basic help with making a liquid to taper?

Hoping someone can help me! My pdoc's assistant is not very helpful with my liquid taper and is not responding to my messages for a refill. So I'm almost out of compounded liquid and need to make my own.

I have 7.5 mg pills. I can buy a pill masher-thingy, and some 1 ml droppers, but what do I put the powdered pill in? Is there a liquid that I can buy?

Also, how can I end up with a 1 mg = 1 ml compounded liquid? Help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

I’m so sorry your pdoc’s assistant is not being helpful.   I wonder if your compounding pharmacist would be willing to intercede on your behalf?  If not, then perhaps s/he would be willing to provide you with instructions and supplies to make a do-it-youself compound until you can get the prescription?

Dispersing crushed powder from a 7.5mg pill in 7.5mL of a suspending vehicle (e.g. OraPlus available on Amazon) would yield a liquid with a concentration of 1mg per mL.  Depending on the amount of powder generated, 7.5mL  may or may not be a sufficient volume of liquid to adequately disperse the powder.  I suggest you ask your compounding pharmacist about this as well as the possibility of supplying you with the whatever compounding vehicle s/he has been using to make your compounded liquid.

Wow, that's a factor I never considered. I think you're right--first I'll try and see if the compounding pharmacy will intercede. I should probably get the supplies in for safety's sake, and see if the pharmacist will advise on the proportions.

Scary.

@[Li...], thanks so much for your help!!
