We can help you plan a careful taper off Xanax.  We typically suggest tapering with cuts of no more than 5-10% every 10-14 days or longer.  We encourage members to pay close attention to how they're feeling and adjust the taper if symptoms become very difficult but making smaller cuts and/or holding longer between cuts.

Welcome to BB @[22...]. Can you please return and tell us a little more about your situation? 8 mgs is a lot. Was one doctor prescribing you this amount? How tolerant and sick are you at this dose in your opinion? Have you ever attempted any prior tapers? You said you have been on this amount for 2 years. How much did you start out taking and for what medical problem? You may be able to make some big initial cuts since you are on so much.
