I am desperate to start a taper off 3 mg of klonopin. I am thinking of a dry cut. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hello @[Pi...] - welcome to BenzoBuddies.  We can help you plan a taper off Klonopin.  We typically suggest tapering by making cuts of no more than 5-10% of your most recent dose every 10 days or longer depending on how you're feeling after cuts.  We find that a slow, careful taper is the best way to keep withdrawal symptoms to a minimum so you're able to function as well as possible during this process.

It would be helpful if you tell us more about your experience with benzos.  When you say you're desperate to taper off Klonopin is this because of symptoms you're experiencing or some other reason? How long have you been taking Klonopin?  Have you ever taken and discontinued a benzo in the past?  I know it's a lot of questions but it helps us to have a better idea how to help you.

I am desperate because I can see my psychiatrist retiring in the not so distant future because of his age. His nurse has reassured me they are not going anywhere. But, I want to be prepared. I have taken klonopin daily for over 20 years. 25 years ago I was on Xanax, for 7 years, weaned off by psychiatric only to have him prescribe klonopin. I have severe GAD.

The Ashton Manual is a great resource for understanding benzo tapering and withdrawal. https://www.benzoinfo.com/ashtonmanual/

Many of our members dry taper.  Some find it is helpful to use a scale to be more precise in making percentage reductions.  This is a popular scale: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012TDNAM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1

I'm sure you'll have lots of questions.  So please be sure to ask any questions you have.
