Pushing through

This is my success story, I know what you’re feeling and it’s awful but these are just symptoms, they aren’t some terrible disease, or condition, they’re phantoms.

It’s important you understand this, and try to breathe through your panic, anxiety and panic will intensify our symptoms so try to distract yourself, can you do that?

This process makes us fearful of everything, things we never gave a second thought to.  You’re in the acute phase and its the worst, this won’t last.  Mine lasted about 2 weeks, yours could be less, don’t lose hope.

The suffering is horrendous, I know! It lightens but that can take a long time. Your psych doctor is like most. They really don't know. In 2020 the FDA was deep in the opioid crisis and discovered, at the same time, that many people were suffering tremendously after being on benzos. So the FDA requires a new warning on the label, but it's not on the literature patients are given. It's only on the literature that doctors and pharmacists see. It's also available online under your prescriptions. I found mine under my prescription.

Unfortunately the FDA did not send out dear doctor letters, so most doctors have absolutely no idea anything changed. But it's documented, so it's there! I've found my doctors (and I've been through a lot of them) won't read anything I print out for them, and will only read something I've highlighted and asked very meekly for their opinion. Your psych doctor may (MAY) be willing to read the two paragraphs. But it's not likely.

If you find a psych doctor who is also an addiction specialist, he or she may know something about the ill effects of benzo withdrawal. They seem to be the only sector who have any experience with this. It's bizarre but if your husband is able to help you out and find someone like that, you may get help.

My guess is that you don't need a neurologist, although it an ease your mind if you're anxious. Many people here have been diagnosed with Lyme disease, fibromyalgia and a host of other afflictions that they did not have. But there are some medicines that can lighten the suffering. They come with a price tag at the end, meaning you usually need to wean off of them too, but it's not as bad as weaning from a benzo. And you have to do what you have to do!

We've all been there, @[...]! It's awful but it will pass! Deep breathing helps a lot. Breathe in for four counts, hold for four counts, breathe out for four counts, hold for four counts. Keep doing that for a few minutes. Your body will respond autonomously; it will start to calm down.

It's called Box breathing. It sounds innocuous but it has a physical effect that is calming. It works.
