Anticipatory long hold later this year - looking for advice

I’ve had some ups and downs so far with tapering, mostly related to sleep but I have managed to go from 1 mg Clonazepam to 0.65g in six weeks and doing so so.  My concern is a 6 week trip to Mexico in mid December until February.  Just doing the math, it’s pretty unlikely I’ll be completely done with my taper and feeling great by then because i know this rate is going to slow down.  My question is for those who have held at a dose for a month or more, was it because you were unable to stabilize and if so, how long did it take before you started again.  I kinda just want to get to wherever I’m going to get to by October or so and stabilize on a dose i feel ok at.  While I hate the idea of stopping and holding my taper, I’ve been planning this trip for 2 years and would like to at least somewhat be able to enjoy it.  What I definitely DONT want to do is to be cutting during this trip.  Appreciate anyone’s experiences who’ve had to hold for whatever reason.

I've done that - a really long hold when I started chemotherapy. I actually adjusted and felt pretty good at my "new" lower dose. Then I just started to taper again when I felt ready. Good for you for planning ahead!

@[Ma...] I have held for a month or more, because of wanting to stabilize, and it did not interfere with my tapering, of course it will take longer. But I think at times we need to let the Brain rest and get used to the cuts. Have a nice trip and let the tapering wait until you return, it is up to you. I know most people do not want to waste time, but sometimes it helps us more than we could ever imagine. Stay Strong.💖 Peace and Healing.

@[Ma...] I have done a couple of holds: several one-week holds, a one-month hold, and a two-month hold while I was moving to another state and changing jobs. None of them seemed to have harmed me. I had a buddy who took a 6 month hold while he and his family took an extended vacation. Wow. He was no worse off for the hold, he said (although I don't think long holds like this are advised).

Thanks…that’s reassuring.  I hope/think 6 weeks will be ok.

A lot of people are advising them now. Hold until your body feels ready.
