Hypersensitivity

Recommended Posts

Hello recovering buddies,

Is it normal to have hypersensitive brain for a long duration (10+ months) during WD. For example, i have memories from where i went, what i saw, what people said with clarity since the WD begun i believe. It feels like my brain doesn’t want or know how to erase those non-eventful moments. Could it be lack of deep sleep? Wanted to know if others have experienced it?

That's a good question! Most of us have foggy cognition; we can't remember what room we were just in!

That said, there does at later stages seem to be a sensitivity phase where things that normally don't bother you, begin to bother you intensely. For example, I've been eating a salad for dinner regularly. I always put green olives in it. Then, suddenly, the olives were WAY too tart and I just couldn't stand them. Or bread—I used to be able to eat white bread or refined wheat products. Now, they make me feel a bit queasy.

IDK but perhaps you're in the sensitivity phase, which is supposed to be later in the recovery season. Hope others will jump in here. So many have very unique experiences, there's sure to be someone with something close to yours!

I have a hypersensitive brain in the sense that whenever I go anywhere I become overstimulated. Too much stimulation gives me brain fog and akathisia, almost feels like I’m drunk

Thanks @[Ho...] for your reply. I did not use the meds for long term, but the hypersensitivity/stimulation has been an issue all along. For instance, I saw an advertisement poster, it is now stuck in my head like a broken record.

@[hl...] yes, I am the same. But it's not just outdoors for me.

I wasn't on Clonazepam for very long, either; about 5-6 months at .75 mg. It was enough!

One constant issue for people is looping thoughts. The same thing coming back around over and over and they can't stop it.  It seems to be very, very common.

I've only had the issue once, and it was a nightmare that kept waking me up and then replaying as soon as I slept, several times. I finally imagined shaking myself and it stopped the loop.

I put 'looping thoughts' into the search box and several came up. See Brighter Day's post here:

You are not alone, that's for sure Sam534!
