Some encouragement after recent taper

[Li...]

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I just tapered down to 0.15mg of clonazepam on Sunday night (down from 0.2mg) and I’m just looking for some encouragement and support. I have awful tension in my face (cheeks and jaw). Does anyone have any suggestions on things that helped them with muscle tension in the face?

Thank you so much in advance!

It seems that the only thing that helps is time. Try to hold your dose til you feel better. I use topical magnesium spray and it helps not 100% but it definitely helps me.

The topical magnesium sprays all seem to be the same. I usually dilute mine with distilled water because most of them burn the skin and seem very strong. I have tried pretty much everyone out there, looking for one that didn't burn but they were all the same. So anyone will work and if it burns you can try diluting it with distilled water.  You can buy them on amazon. And the oral supplement of magnesium that works great for me is NOW brand magnesium caps. It has 3 different forms of magnesium in it and that seems to work very well.

You just did a 25% reduction, which is a lot!    I would encourage you to hold your dose  not only until the symptoms diminish, but until you are feeling relatively good.  Then, reduce no more than 10% and see how you are doing.

You'll get through this!

@[ji...] Thank you! Yes, I’ve been reducing by .05mg over the past seven months and prior to that a bit more. It’s been uncomfortable but manageable each time. Everybody is so different with how they react to each taper! I appreciate your kind words.
