I just got some good news! My daughter in law works for my new Dr who is maintaining me on current dosage of 1.5 mgs x and he's agreed to maintain me with no pressure to taper! This relieves a lot of stress!! I can hold as long as I need to without Dr pressure. I am still going to see a psychiatrist and see if she will agree to maintain me..if not I'm still ok..phew!!!

Also, have a question .. I have to fly end of September for a family vacation..wasn't going to go bc of possibly being forced to cut or the possibility that I wouldn't be feeling well enough to go.

My last cut was June 12th and I hope by then I'll be leveled off to go??

Anyone with thoughts on this..I will have roughly 15 wks from time of last cut until I leave.  Will not attempt any cuts until after vacation. Do you guys think I'll be stable..asking my expert BB holders. I also know everyone is different so this might be hard to answer but I'm throwing it out there anyway.

Trish

Trish,

A few years back I planned a big trip to the West Coast for a family vacation.

I felt nauseous and sick due to tapering the whole time we were there. But, who cares. We all had a good time, even though I wasn't at my best.

So don't worry about how you'll feel. Keep holding, then you are likely to feel better, but even if you are not 100 percent okay, you can still have a good time.

And I know you are skittish about supplements, maybe read The Magnesium Miracle book by Carolyn Dean ... she has a lot of stuff in there about magnesium and cardiac issues. I think it helps immensely with sleep/anxiety. Some people find it revs their symptoms, but she even addresses that in the book.

Feel better.

Hi Trish,

About your trip... since everything is already paid for, and not refundable, I’d tell you to go and have a good time . You may just find that the change of scenery may be enough of a distraction to keep your withdrawalsymptoms to a minimum.  I would also agree with Cant and tell you to make sure you keep up your hold, don’t even do a tiny cut until after you return home. You have a good 3 months of holding ahead of you. That should hopefully help a lot too.

Heath

Hi Trish,

I want to echo what others have said.  I know that going away even for a short while can provide some relief in the "new distractions" kind of way. At the end of a day travelling or being in a new place I know sometimes I'll look back and think Whoa I wasn't feeling well at all today!  But it all went smoothly.

But do not be tempted by the idea to cut even a smidgen.  It's remarkable how at times even a tiny cut can have big impact -- usually about 3 days later (on X as well here...) for me anyway.  Often when I least expect it!

I hope that it lines up for you to make the trip and to have a fine time while you are away...just remember to take time for yourself if you need to, rest when you need to, and laugh as much as possible!

SS l am sorry you are suffering but you will definitely feel the benefit of a long hold. This will take as long as it takes and one day it will be a memory for all of us.

    Love Stut X

Thanks Stut,

You are so great with providing comfort and support on this thread, thank you for being you.  The length of time that this is taking is a bit bewildering if I think of the future.  So I have to believe -- and I've read much to corroborate this -- that a long hold will settle the body down, prepare it for more cutting.  Learning patience here, but it's never been a strong character trait of mine - lol..... the things that we have to go through to learn our lessons....

How are you doing?  How are your days and nights and taper?  I'm hoping that things are good the sxs are manageable and that you are taking care of yourself in the same way that you show so much care for so many here...

Love

SS

Thank you SS we have missed you here.l am doing ok l can't taper until September going to get a herniated disc in the neck sorted before l do anything. Then l will slide very slowly off. That's the plan anyway.

I don't seem to get a large amount of windows if any but the symptoms are manageable so l won't complain.SS you are doing so well don't look too far into the future and take it as slow as you need to.l am definitely going to do that and l hope when off things won't be unbearable.

Thanks NJ, for the advice - I'll absolutely look into that book.

Thanks Heath, A change in scenery might very well do me some good..I'm hoping for that!

No cuts not even a tiny one before this trip!

Thanks sufferingsixty, my fellow x friend! Not going to cut, no way, no how! Still paying the price of last cut..uhggg

Thank you all so much for your kind words and your support..so fortunate to have found you all!!

Wishing all of you a beautiful weekend!

Feel good everyone!!

Stut,

Good luck with the herniated disc in your neck. I didn’t have a herniated disc but I did have a vertebrae that slipped out of position and was pressing on a nerve in my lower back..L 4-5.

Surgery fixed me upjust fine...good as new ...about 2 1/2 years ago. I wish you the same best results no matter what your course of treatment may be.

I do have neck pain too...from arthritis in my neck and a narrowing of the spinal canal. Very common.

But for now, I just put on a soft collar when it is really bad...fixes me right up.  But I don’t like to wear it a lot. I don’t know why the neck collar works...but it does. So I wear it periodically. Actually wearing it right now!

And sometimes, I know the pain is actually my muscles tightening in my neck and shoulders ..thanks to benzo withdrawal.... just  keeps on giving! Such joy!

Take care and feel good, Stut!

Heath :thumbsup::smitten:

And I hope EVERYONE here continues to stay strong, hold the holds, have patience and strength, especially during the really bad times...remember...there is a light at the end of the tunnel, we WILL all be free of this poison when our time is right! Can’t rush the benzo devil but we sure will beat it one Day!! :oXo:

HI everyone, I think I'm bordering on MIA so I'm stopping to say hello and I hope everyone is hanging in there with whatever life might  be throwing them . :smitten:

I don;t remember the date of my last post , but there are over 10 pages of posts since then! NOt sure I can catch up with it all :o

Anyway....... welcome new Long hold buddies, you are in the right place here :smitten:

And love and hugs to a ll the old-timers  ;D:hug:

I do SO appreciate everyone  in this group- always brings some sanity and hope to this madness

Special hugs for LAura and TMB who I know are having a rough time of it at the moment ( and Stut , thinking of you with your daughters departure :smitten:)

SS- I think you  posted recently somewhere in these pages , I was wondering how you were, I'll have to look for your post as I haven't seen you here in a while. :smitten:

I'm doing just sort of ok, my usual new normal. I got part way into the Sandoz clonazepam switch and got hit really hard. As Sandoz is also going to be discontinued :tickedoff: I've gone back to all Teva using the stash I have. Found a chemist with some Teva left so I have a couple of months worth at least , definitely feeling better for going back to it.

I plan to ask for accord next time, as TNTD felt like she got an up dose from that brand , hey , maybe I'll be able to make a cut and pretend I'm on a lower dose :) Amazing what a psychological 'lift' can do !

dentist today which I am SO not looking forward to, will just get through today though .

much much love ,

MiYu :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

SS- I found your posts , I'm sorry you are having it rough  :( And after feeling so much better....

very frustrating.

Do you think you cut too much , or didn;t hold long enough or a combination of both?  I know , hard to tell.

I do get scared that every cut I ever make will be horrible regardless of holds, one can't know so we just do what we can to keep moving forwards .

THis too shall pass.

much love, mIYu :smitten:

Hi Miyu,

Yes, this whole thing is tricky!  I'm so sorry you're having to bounce between makers of K.  Such a drag when things can be so tough with even the tiniest cuts. I'm glad that you've found s "supplier" i.e. chemist who has some stock and that you may even have found a brand that will offer some relief!

I've taken a look at my entire taper history recently and realized that I cut way way too quickly for almost the entire first year.  I think the rough patches I am having now are the result of that.  (even changed my sig so that no one reading it would think that pace was wise -- it was fool hardy!)

My CNS is barely hanging on so even a smidgen of a cut is too much  :tickedoff:

So if I want to be in a place where I think I can begin to taper again I think I must hold.

It was in a post of Heath's that i read: hold hold hold, don't be tempted by even the tiniest change for at least 3 months..... of course I only lasted 2 and though I could rush things

There is always a way out I figure, it just means more time with potions of liquid...

Thanks for being here for us dear one!  Miss you when you're not around -- and sometimes we need to take a break from this as well.....

MiYu- Thanks for your support. Yes, we are still struggling. Last Thurs, we had a better day, thought it might have been due to adding methyl folate, but when we tried again, no change. We are just hoping and praying things calm down soon. Even just a little lessening of the anxiety would help us tremendously.

Hi Laura how long has your hold been and what dosage is your sister on at the minute.

Heath thank you l will be honest with you l won't be taking Lyrica or amitriptyline so l imagine the specialist won't be pleased.l want it out and that will be what l will be asking for. They don't like someone having an opinion but this is my decision and l won't be starting any more addictive medication.

Miyu l am glad you are back your kindness is always missed.l hope you get this crossover sorted. You don't need any more upset at this time.

Hey there MiYu,

Hope the dentist goes ok. I don’t like to go to the dentist either, even though he is a wonderful guy and rarely hurts me. It’s the anxiety and worry about what Might happen that is always worse than the visit is. I hope your visit is painless and quick :)

Hope the switch in generics helps things. Andhope your “new normal” gets better and better,

Heath :smitten::thumbsup:

Oh, and I was kind of MIA as well!

Very lazy day today. Bad tummy ache. Don’t know why. Maybe too many veggies...is that possible? Or too much cantaloupe! Gotta be careful of that. Just saying....

Hi SS,

I LOOKED BACK AT MY SIG THAT I HAVE at home in my journal( it’s more detailed than the one I post here because the forum limits us to only a certain amount of letters)

I looked at the beginning of my taper, when I did not know about this forum and I did not know what I was doing!

I too cut such big amounts! And it didn’t catch up to me until about 2-3 months later. And because Valium has a long half life, the wdsx don’t show up right away anyway!

I got out of that mess but only because I held for about 3 1/2 months!

So don’t dispair! Just keep your hold and it will happen. Try not to cheat even a little. I sure know about that as I have cheated on my hold and paid the consequences. EVERY ONE GETS TEMPTED BY THE BENZO BEAST :oXo: :oXo:

I have a tender tummy. Gotta watch everything I eat...but in moderation, cantaloupe is usually ok. But I just happened to get one that was as sweet as candy...so of course I pigged out...stupid, I know!

I’ll be ok by tomorrow.

Thanks Stut and Olive kitty for your sympathies🤪

Trish: The powdered Mag is very gentle. And it passes through brain/blood barrier--which is good!
