As there seems to be some posts about feeling crappy ..... Just thought I'd have a moan and say I've had two of the worst days that I've had in a very long time ...... Been hanging out on BB looking at encouraging things and reminding myself this is benzo WD!

TNTD ... I also have been  having ' it's going to take me 10 years or more " thoughts  :(

STOP !

Go away nasty thoughts.

Valley , your story is inspiring ...really hoping a good long hold will set me on the right path this time ....

I haven't read everyone's posts yet , it's been busy here , that's good!

But hi everyone , and Gard ..... Do you need a new doc ? Would hate to see  you get in trouble . Will your doc let you hold if things get rough? We need your sweet self here  :smitten:

Love, MiYu  :smitten:

Thanks for this quote!  I hadn't seen it either and love the sentiment..... i have a bumper sticker that says "Don't believe everything you think."

Love it!  :D

That is a classic quote!    :)

You're right. It even pops up as a google search! Outwitted by a cute squirrel again!

(Keep posting. Your avatar always makes me smile!)

TNTD it probably wont be ten years. With a lot of us a long hold sets us straight and we can resume a fairly normal ish taper for a while. Lather, rinse, repeat.... it may be a cycle of them but you will get there and likely a little faster and easier if you listen to your symptoms. Good luck❤️

Slowly please chat and come up with a  good question, you have kept things going here and made us think and yes with doses of humor, if there is no humor on this thread I am outta of here... :D. Speak up

OK thanks begood :smitten::thumbsup:

Question ...it's cold here today so what's it going to be like in Scotland, north of Inverness next week?

"Kilts will be worn"  at the wedding I'm going to - but thankfully not by me

Oh love a Man in a kilt...so nice. ;)

Me too Begood!  ;)

Thanks, Slowly. No, not bedtime here. Lunch time. And clean the house day, so need to get up and get going! House cleaning as distraction. Hmm. Need to come up with something better! ;)

Gard :smitten:

Gardener:

Great reminders about the housework. "After the ecstasy, then the laundry." LOL

I have been on BB about 8 months now and have seen your wisdom in a couple of places. I was told to go to the Long Hold Thread to find great people. I am in a liquid taper now and have done a couple of holds for 3 weeks or so.

Hi, Swammi. All of my wisdom comes from making mistakes! And that makes me so wise!  I see you have already figured out that short holds done in time can help prevent big problems and smooth out the journey.  Love to see that!

As for the laundry. It's still not done. But don't tell!

Gard :)

tntd, Miyu, so sorry you're having waves. May they be short ones. You both deserve a break. I think Kitty's words make a lot of sense. Hold onto hope.

As for my doctor, there are not a lot of choices in my HMO in this semi-rural area. So far he wants me off but has been reasonably flexible, so both I'm nervous and hopeful at the same time.

Now, Miyu, do we need to discuss behaving yourself around kilts? ???

 definitely not ! If I have to behave myself around kilts as well as trying to hold it together with this benzo cr*p , then what hope is there ?  ;D

Have none of you watched Outlander ? I've watched the series through twice and read all the books .....so ladies , if you want to see men in kilts ( I will refrain from mentioning Heathcliffs spell correct which was truly hilarious and she doesn't seem to have caught on yet ::))  then outlander is your go to show ..... I believe its just started airing on UK tv also.

Aside from brau lads in kilts,it actually has  a lot of historical  interest running through the story line.

Ok , enough  excitement for  one day , my nervous system can't handle it ..... ::)

Love,  MiYu

Ps ... On the subject of distraction ... Wish I could get out to distract .... But I'm too fragile to do much so mostly housebound  :( have to stay with iPad mostly and small house stuff . I did  have those few days of walking a mile in the evenings , hope that comes back soon. I do feel encouraged from reading the past many pages of posts tho.....

Does ANYONE else get headaches? I can't find much on the board? This has started about 4 weeks ago--around a cut from 4 to 3.75 BUT I have never suffered from headaches in the past and it's BAD! Aleve helps a bit but its just this hovering hell that only goes away with a glass of wine---I'm really struggling with managing yet another s/x--esp one like this--which just feels like such a hostile take over. ANYONE?

Thanks,

Blue

Hi BP. I actually get terrible headaches now and then.  I have throughout my taper but haven't really posted much about them because the seem so random. I do know headaches are somewhat prevalent in many going through withdrawal and I was warned I would get them by my doctor. Hope you get some relief soon. :)--V

Ok, so here I am again. Trying very hard to keep up and missing all that is going on........

So I went back to my last post, 7 hours ago, and .........,l

THERE ARE 36 posts since then!

I can't skim, cause then nothing makes sense. Gotta read every one.

Ok so I am settling in with my pillow and blanky and going to read every word!

Just had to cheat first and see what that picture of the guy in the kit was all about.

:D :D ;D ;D :D;D:laugh:  ;D

What a laugh!

The wedding should be a real kick! Personally I think it would be a great sight if everyone wore kilts.

Okay back to reading for atleast all day! What the heck it's Sunday! I hope everyone at my house leaves me alone. I'd love to power off my phone but I wouldn't dare. That is a sad situation, how I am addicted to my phone and iPad...but what the heck.

Good thoughts, hopes and wishes to everyone.

Ps...Can't, I went on the back of a motorcycle only once in my life. Scared the £~{*€<|~~|.,?¡*#      out  of me but what a blast!

Heath

Hey Heath... -I dont do so well on the back either..!! Lol

There can be 2 new pages appear while i text a reply... -and then it makes no sense, or a key factor has changed...  -all part of the fun...

Be Well..

Hi bluepill,

Yes indeed! I suffered from headaches all my life until I found that I was allergic to chocolate and and other things.

BUT... when I was in tolerance, before I started to taper off Valium I was getting horrible headaches every single days at about 3:30. They lasted until I finally went to sleep. They were gone the next day but came back just like clockwork at about 3:30, every single day. It all stopped about one month later. I was totally off of everything I was allergic to, so all I can attribute it to was tolerance to the drug.

Of course I had not begun to taper yet at that time, but I do believe it was the Valium that was the culprit.

And yes, I have also had neck and headaches during my taper too.. I think it's because Valium acts as a muscle relaxer, so when it is taken away during a taper, muscles get more tense, and so muscle aches appear. It happened that I got major  muscle aches in different parts of my body all the time during my taper.

So, I know  it is a difficukt thing to bear with, but it will go away , soon I hope.

I used to use a microwaveable heat pack on my neck and ice on my head. It did help to make things better. You might want to try it.

Hope you feel better soon, but not to worry :therethere:

Can't.....Oh yeah! Every time I come here I have to catch up to atleast ten to twenty posts or more, and that's only in about a day!

But it's a happy and healthy distraction and I love it.

Just wish so many weren't suffering.

And, Hope you are fully recovered from that nasty flu bug!

MIYU,

SO SORRY TO HEAR YOU HAD TWO MISERABLE DAYS. AND YES, I LOVE THE QUOTE, "Dont believe everything you think"

I too think about how long it's going to take to get off this darn drug, but as Gard always says, it's one step closer to freedom every day. And as Lynn said, holding is healing, so we are indeed getting closer to walking off, no matter how long it takes. One day at a time.

It helps me to look back at my old posts and the dates and notes on my old sigs that I have saved. When I do that I remember how I never thought I'd get as far as I have. Makes me feel better and realize that I can do this, and my turn to walk off will definitely come, when the time is right.

Yours will too, just hang in there my sweet!

I too "have miles to go before I sleep" Robert Frost

Heath  :thumbsup::therethere::mybuddy:

Hi Cantfly, that sounds like a deal  ;D Hope you are hanging in there. Hope you ALL are hanging in there. I'm having problems trying to find where I left off to respond to you guys. Just in case you think I'm being rude in late replies :D

I went to my GP recently and he mentioned that people who have been on Benzos for a long time and are on a fairly low dose, that it is pointless to try and wean them off it as it's just too difficult. My psychiatrist wants me off them like yesterday but my GP believes it's because they don't want to be sued. He said he will continue to prescribe them for me as long as I need them even if he receives a letter from them (psychiatric team) He is a very well respected and excellent doctor

so I'm just confused now! He can't be right, surely?

Hope it all flows well for you Irishlass, and great you sorted the other med out... -good step forward..!

I will cut small from now on if you do... lol...

My Best..

A very controversial question for sure... (many, -and a current thread on it in chewing the fat)

My strong opinion, and my Drs agree, Is that we (the serious cases) are too few for most Drs to experience... And then we are often mis-diagnosed with conditions other than benzo WD... -Original condition, etc..

It seems common when looking at sites like this, and it is far too common to be acceptable, but at a GP Drs level they dont seem to see it beyond a few "hard" weeks, type cases...

Some Drs possibly dont want to validate it, preferring we think we are going mad, rather than having an "excuse" to feel sorry for ourselves..??

And some may just be evil and sadistic..??

The specialists may not SEE it, but they sure as hell SHOULD know...

Either way, all I ask is they trust and listen...

For the maths people...

-I wonder what is the ratio of active members on this site (and perhaps others) to current ongoing benzo scripts globally..

Post Jump members would account for non internet users...

I know it would be very rough... but perhaps interesting...

Irishlass, I am so glad you can taper at your own speed...

This can be hard enough without that issue...

All the best...

Ps, that post will be hundreds back here...!!

I am at the beginning of a hold. .....just three weeks.  I seem to be getting less functional with each day.  The panic , the fatigue, the dizziness ( extreme) ......how do I know if I'm doing the right thing.  I've been to my family doctor every week fir the past 3 weeks and talked to him or a nurse on the phone multiple times.  I feel like I'm losing it.  How do I get through this??

The last time I was there ( Thursday) he said to hold but had no clue how long....mentioned something about how I would never get off.  He's been prescribing this to me for decades but doesn't know how to get me off.  I'm afraid to get in the shower today.

Heath and Valley (and Cant)

Thanks so much! Makes me feel better to know not alone. I sort of wish mine came on at same time as it would be easier to ascribe to cuts but they seem totally random and just...hover! I will try and stay calm and not stress (right)--

Hope you all are doing okay---Thank G-d for this group. You are the best--

Just wanted to add that TWENTY years ago when I was on Ativan I was getting BAD headaches to the point I was sure I had MS. My (now) husband figured out it was the Ativan--they came on around 4:00 every day===One day he told me to take a pill and it went away. Rather than get off I switched to Klonopin and never had an issue. Until now with the Valium---And pain is not unlike what I used to experience except now I have the vision stuff too---I guess the random timing and difficulty connecting them to a cut (about 4/5 weeks ago) makes it hard to believe--but I'll go with it.

Thanks again. Just rambling. Nobody else will listen to me!!!  ;) Sorry friends

Yikes, looks like you are about 15 hours ahead of us here in California, if I figured in right.

So....if someone yells in the forest on Monday morning in Australia, does that mean in California, it really didn't happen yet?  Hmmmmm? Just a thought....:idiot:
