That is interesting, And Yes, although I had many Lyme friends with diarrhea, I had terrible constipation (except when I took certain antibiotics) and the Gabapentin made that sooooo much worse. Intolerable nausea and a sort of righting of my digestion was the first symptom of gabapentin withdrawal - I used all kinds of fermented foods and prebiotics and supplements to help that. V messed it up again a bit, but now I'm pretty normal (right down to 2 ml V a day). Did you have Lyme?

It does fade. When I was at the very bottom, I could barely motivate myself to get out of bed for days at a time. But when I started taking Valium - to deal with the hideous Gabapentin withdrawal -  really did get some of it back, and as I am tapering I do seem to be getting more and more hopeful about the future and more engaged in my day to day life - my job, kids, etc. So today, sitting at my desk but feeling sick and like I just want to binge-watch a Netflix series (even though the pain in my spine is intense and makes me really jumpy) I am depressed about being depressed. I did have periods of blunted emotions as well: sometimes they will come roaring back - like yesterday when I hit the deer and went through weeping periods for the whole day. I am sure your motivation will come back.

Thanks, that helps fit a few things in place... and yes, my emotions are so flat its not funny. They went haywire after my opiate CT, and that was the last I saw of them too...

Probably why lyrica or larger gabapentin doses make me feel better. The interchangeable reverse to your situation, in a way...

Was also wondering, if you dont mind, When you had Lyme, did it have any long term effect on your GI function, such as peristalsis and transit time?

Thanks again...

Hey cantfly, my digestive system has never been the same since the opiate ct last year. I'm sure tapering benzos is partly to blame and maybe the digestive garbage will clear up when I'm off. All I know is it went haywire after the opiate ct and has not been the same since.  :)--V

Thanks Cally, Lyme doesnt "exist" in Australia... -yet a couple of thousand people swear they have or had it, and a couple of Drs treat it... The girl that bread my dogs tested positive to somdthing that was extreemly close to it with a specialised blood test... so maybe something very close exists here...

I am no stranger to ticks, a hazard of timber cutting... But when i had my pelvis reconstruction, my then partner brought some clothes in that had tiny ticks in with them... one bite turned into the clasic bulls eye that is shown in all the pics... -I was lyme aware and googled it and showed my infectious disease Dr... -He dismissed it as a reaction... I was already on IV antibiotics and rather ill anyway...

It is something i have always wondered about and never found much info on, to do with the GI side..

I already had problems from opiates in that area, and was taking more to control the problem they were causing... But its from here that things spiraled out of control, beyond what any of my specialists could understand... Is probably one of those things that I will never know for sure, and may well have several compounding causes...

Like Valley says, its very opiate, and its rather Benzo, and it could also be from my spinal nerves being torn and stretched... possibly even the antibiotics...???

But that tick bite 4yrs ago always niggles at the back of my mind... -a Gut feeling...

Thanks...

And thanks Valley..

You should really look into it. I will send you some links that deal with the reality of global Lyme - and if you had the Bullseye you had Lyme. The good news is that you can treat Lyme without antibiotics and the standard protocols: I did best with classical homeopathy and an alternative treatment called Ondamed, and I am sure you can find a good homeopath near you. The best way to defeat Lyme is by strengthening your immune system, and that's possible anywhere. If I had it to do over again I would stay away from the Lyme doctors and go straight to those.

Hey Cally, have you run into any information on using low dose naltrexone to treat Lyme?  I know it's used for a lot of different autoimmune disorders to boost the immune system. I use it for other reasons but know it's supposed to be a "super" immune booster.  :)--V

Valley, are you getting any improvment of GI stuff as yet?

Thats basicly all that hit me from my last cut...

I do know that opiates are a big part of it all, considering the doses, which are a bit understated in my sig, and the time on them.... But I cant say there has been any improvment asides the prucalopride, which i need to taper off now, as There is no info on how safe it is long term...

Some days I get so tempted to go back on low doses of opiates and be done with the rest...  But I do know thats not the solution... I would try LDN first...

-Just a little window on the abdomin pain and cramps would be nice...

Perhaps next week...???

I haven't really gotten significant improvement with the GI stuff yet. It's like the food isn't absorbed at all but goes right through me. I've kind of gotten used to it and have to believe it will resolve when my taper is through.

Chickens in space? It could happen.

Yes I used it and it was helpful - although I forget at the moment what it was for. I think immune support??? I was so sick and my systems were so shut down that almost anything I took made me sicker, except for detoxification agents. I did a heavy metal detox that was terrific. Once I was able to detoxify, I was able to handle the meds that were directly targeting the illness.

Well, I had a lot of posts to catch up on here, you've all been busy chics and sloths and ......turtles ( brain fog moment)

I have been still quite unwell  >:( but hanging in there . Yesterday was a little better , but is till feel very fragile. Ive even had some jerking limbs which always scares me, so damn sensitive at the moment .

I'm trying to decide if I should taper off my 400 mgs of gabapentin before I try anymore with the Valium .... I don't know , I here both sides .....

Stomach stuff..... I have burning and now very intense pain/ burning right where my solar plexus is.... Anyone else experience this? One time , way before benzos I ended up in hospital with this it was so painful .... They couldn't find anything... Turned out to be parasites , and after a parasite cleanse it never came back , til now.

I also had a ' lyme' diagnosis....... I had a tic bite twenty years ago..... I have very mixed feelings about the whole thing.... I went to a Lyme doc and of course came out with a Lyme diagnosis .... As Anthony Williams says- if you go to a broom shop you'll come out with a broom!

Anyway , I tried various treatments and they only made me way worse, so I just stopped , except for some energy copper wires that I get from a psychic who treats various infections this way.

I do take LDN ... And CBD oil, both of which a re supposed to be helpful in treating Lyme , and at anyrate help the immune system , which I feel is where it's at.

For me there was a lot of emotional stuff connected to being ill , trauma stuff, and once I worked with that , things got better .... My health has not been good for some years so I think now trying to deal with benzo WD is a stress on my whole system.

Anyway... Woke up this morning feeling fluish..... Ugh.... And seem to have got some pink eye( the little girl who lives upstairs just had it

So , I guess just one question .... Anyone have this pain/ burning right at the sternum? It's really hot and painful..... I think I read there's a whole bunch of nerves right there, so prob benzo WD is aggravating some pre existing soemthing .

Hello to all my buddies , thanks for your responses , your humor, and I hope everyone is coping with today ,

Love, MiYu  :smitten:

Hi MiYu. So sorry you're having the pain and benzo flu symptoms. I haven't experienced the burning in the area you describe but have had other areas of burning. There is definitely a variation of sxs between different people tapering benzos.

I'm guessing a lot of your health problems will improve as you taper down. I have had chronic pain for years which is why I was put on the Valium. When I got to 7.5mg of diazepam the pain completely vanished in my back.  I still can't believe it!

I agree that benzo withdrawal stresses almost all body systems which results in the varied and many sxs we get. I hope everything will improve very soon.  :)--V

So happy that your back symptoms have stopped , that's amazing .....it's all so weird how this unfolds .....keeping the faith that things will get easier for me....

Burning is really frustrating. Last week I got in my epsom soak bath, and the front of both of my thighs burned like hell, went red and felt like cardboard. It was bizarre. It lasted about 15 minutes after my soak. ( legs out of water of course) and it happened again the next night. But nothing since- just two days. Now back to just hot flashes!

Miya, Cant, all those in a bad place, thinking of you and wishing you better health soon. I have beet hit with insomnia again, so my main thing is fatigue. Not sure I will be able to follow the boards if my brain checks out, so don't mind me if I say totally random things. ::) Other symptoms are not so bad. Knock wood!
