Pbh have you posted on the cold turkey thread? I'm sure there may be someone there that was reinstated on a different benzo as far off as you were. Just an idea. Hugs

Ok Nicole.... Ill try to tackle that at some point.... Feeling sick right now

All I can say is I think this is a very good idea. I have never done a c/t so I am as mystified as you are whether this is from the c/t or whether it is an adverse drug reaction. If it is from the c/t, you would want to updose and hold. If it is an adverse drug reaction you would want to get off ASAP. And I would think that would mean in a hospital.

Thinking of you.

so...updoses get worse before they get better?  I am in somewhat the same situation pbh, I cut my v too much for my body about 3 mo in a r0w and started having seizure like sxs too...got checked out at ER and doc and everything came out ok, not "real" seizures.  BUt then I did an updose (per doc) of 2 mg of v from 6mg to 8 mg about 3 weeks ago.  I think I feel a tiny improvement, not constantly seizing like every minute, but still extremely shaking and debilitated, and still seize up about 4 or 5 times a day, and then get this feeling of not being able to move, like I am frozen in place.  Awful.  I updosed all 2 mg at once, did not know I was supposed to do it slowly..  Hoping this is going to work...I'm having a hard time typing and living life at all at present too.  my hands don't work like my brain tells them too...

Just want you to know you are not alone.  Does Bat let people from US call them too, I didn't know that...hang in there second by second, it does get very wearing......Stella

she was cold turkeyed and ten months off the doctors reinstated her on a different benzo and she is having myclonic seizures. plus much more. huge mistake on the doctors part. its unbelievable to me everyday how uneducated doctors are about this process.

Please,

It's really too bad that there isn't some expert in the NY area that you can consult with one on one. :(

I know Lynn... I don't know what's happening to me.... :'(

pbh its the doctors fault. for one for cold turkeying you, two for reinstating you at ten months off and three putting you on a different benzo. in new york city is there not a specialist? i know youre doing the best you can. maybe your brother could call around for you in the city? benzoawaredoctors.com i believe is one site. :(

well, I have the flu. anybody have any experience with Tamiflu?

I took tamiflu a year ago without issue.  I was knee-deep in a period of too fast tapering and very symptomatic.  I'm glad I took it as I only ended up with a mild flu.

Thanks Lynn. I just took one. I am achy, coughing and the mutha of all headaches!

Well, the flu put me back in acute. I have had a horrid week. anyone here who has tried buspar?

Valley of course you would pick [glow=red,2,300]"CHICKENS"[/glow], why didn't I see that coming...... :D :D :D

It was the only choice as you already took the turtle lol.

So perfect for you Valley! And CONGRATULATIONS on your recent reduction! Are you still doing the 10 days on 10 off method ? Glad you are feeling mostly good too... :)

Hi MiYu. Yes. I'm still doing the 10 day reduction and 10 day hold. It works great when I don't cut before the 10 days are over lol.  :)--V

Hi jr. from what I've read, most don't get great results from buspar.  :)--V

Valley,

When you do your ten day cut and ten day hold, how much do you cut each day of the ten days?

Thanks,  Heath :)

I cut .025 Heath. It totals .25mg every 20 days. I will have to slow it down eventually.  :)--V

jr - very sorry about the flu causing such problems.  I took buspar about 25yrs ago and can't remember what it did or did not do.  Sorry I am of no help there.  I hope the sxs calm down soon.

I took buspar for about a year before i ended up on benzos- all I remember was it made me feel FLAT- just nothing.

I had just posted elsewhere asking if a cold could put you in benzo flu. It sounds like it can from what Im reading on here. Im over the very bad cold but feel worse, and I have had a pretty decent taper so far- slow but tolerable. This shivering/blah/headache/icky get away from me stuff is just nasty...

I botched my first 2 attempts at weaning ( see my history). After having helix for 10 days of intense anxiety and crying spells multiple times a day, I went back up to my original prescribed dose of 2mg Klonapin (1mg every 12 hours). I had made the huge mistake of cutting back by too much too soon per doctor's recommendation ( 1/8 mg of my total daily 2mg dose, dry cut).

I have been back on the 2mg Klonapin per day for 8 days now but not feeling b3tter yet. Yesterday, I decided to divide my 2 mg Klonapin per day into 4 doses of 0.5mg( every 6 hours) rather than the 1mg twice a day ( every 12 hours). I am still not leveling out. Nurse practitioner gave me some Vistaril to help ease the anxiety but, WILL I eventually level out holding at my current dose of 2 mg per day or have I screwed it up and now that dose will no longer give me relief?  Please help. All advice, tips and support greatly appreciated!

Also, has Vistaril helped anyone else?

Hi Mellow. It appears to me that you've made quite a few changes to your dose in the last little bit. If it were me, I'd wait it out for 2-4 weeks before making any further med changes to see if things smooth out. I'm sorry you're having a rough time. Hopefully it will turn around soon.  :)--V

I used vistaril during the first ten months of my taper, that is what I actually was on for anxiety for many years, before asking for the dreaded klonopin. It's a sedative antihistamine prescribed off label for anxiety. Also given to alcoholics in withdrawal. It's commonly used in benzo withdrawal from what I've read. I've got a bunch hoarded for when I need it. You've made a few changes like v said, with the up dose and changing dose times. I'd hold like v said for a bit. Every change we make can affect us. But visitril works for me, it'll make you sleepy so take before bed if possible.

HI Kitty, I just dug up my detox profile from 23andme, which i had done pre Benzos, and found I have those same two snps as you that make me a rapid metabolizer of Valium . I was wondering what difference it makes to our tapering and how we do with Valium? I will speak to my doc about it , i don't have an appointment for another three weeks . So I just wondered if you have any tips or how it has affected your taper and Valium metabolizing. thank you!  :smitten:

Hopefreegirl, Kitten Beanbag and Valley Umm,

After one, 25 mg dose of the Vistaril aka Ataraxia aka hydroxyzine, I actually started to feel a window open and remain partially open for about 20 hours now.  Histamine is also a neurotransmitter even though may people just associate it with allergic reactions. It is present throughout the body but acts as a neuortransmitter in the brain. So, I am very please with it after only one dose. It did make me extremely tired though, which is a common sideffect and often used off lable for sleep, like Benadryl.

Kitten Beanbag. I was diagnosed by a hematologist 16 years ago with MTHFR. This is before ithad received much exposure and  before the invention of 23& Me. Since you mentioned 23&Me, I am curious if you have any MTHFR and/ or CBS mutations listed. I have them as well as many genetic neurotransmitter mutations.......Makes it a bit more convoluted to treat mental health issues. Just an FYI,  there is a site called MTHFR.com that will take your 23& me data and break it down further into about 50 pages of gene allows or mutations so you or your doctor will have better understanding. Love to all!

very glad it worked for you! I'm compound heterogeneous for 677 and 1298. There's a Mthfr thread on this group. Supposedly through this process we are high in histamine anyway maybe that is why we have such reactions to things. Yes I've been prescribed visitril for anxiety on and off for over 20 years. Happy for you! :)

I have the same compound heterozygous on the MTHFR, those are the most common but what havoc they can cause. I also have CBS mutations and almost every single one of my neurotransmitter genes have hetero or homozygous. I wish doctors would start learning more about these mutations. Do you see a functional medicine or Integrative medicine doctor for your mutations? Just curious if you had a doc treating you for those.

Hope you are well

Mellow
