The corona virus is quickly spreading around the world, and impacting economics, travel, manufacturing, etc. It is good to take reasonable precautions and be informed. Forewarned is forearmed. As more cases are diagnosed, understandably people are looking to public health officials for answers. In the USA, the organization CDC is tasked with this over sight. I am passing this link along as it gives concrete actions in response to differing levels of outbreak.

Preparation steps:

Go to page 33, Section V -  Use of Nonpharmaceutical Interventions by Pandemic Severity Category

This includes instructions about isolation and when bans like no large gatherings, closing schools, etc. would be appropriate.  Chart on page 34 shows these steps.
