At particular risk of running short, is the U.S. supply of antibiotics such as amoxicillin, doxycycline, penicillin and other key drugs, with experts noting that 90% of their core components are sourced in China."

You're right, it is an issue due to on-demand inventory systems in the USA. Currently it affects in-patient needs more with things like IV fluids and injectables.  There is some good news for all of us. A quick check through the FDA's current drug shortage list has no Benzos on it except injectable lorazepam.

If you take daily meds for BP, etc. might be good to secure some extra. Same for routine stuff like Spring allergy meds  and acetaminophen too. *Not endorsing it or rejecting it, but there are online Pharma companies (expl. Canadian, Indian) that you can order from. Friends have gotten thyroid med, skin treatment cream for sun spots, and BP med shipped from India without problems.

India is a large Pharma hub as well as China. Although currently they get many components from China, hopefully they will move into all areas of manufacturing. Since this represents a big chunk of their GDP, there is a financial incentive to step into the gap. They have a large, young workforce with many university educated folks. They also have plants already set-up. India may be able to adapt more quickly than other places.

China is sending their workers back to the factories this week in many places.  The govt. needs the income from Pharma so that will be a priority focus for them.

How long or how much of a problem it will be is unknown for now.  Will monitor the situation and post what I can find.
