Hello, I’d like to give my Mom some info on benzos. She’s aware of my situation and is supportive, but I want to send her something to read on her own. I’ve sent her the BIC website and Ashton’s site, but not sure if she can easily navigate the latter. Any info is appreciated!

That's great!  It is so hard for some to understand.  Some says I may be feeling ok and when I see family or friends, they're like, you're doing better!  But then I get hit hard and am bed bound and it doesn't make sense to them.  I have explained a million times that recovery is not linear, that it doesn't mean time passed means being healed, but it still very hard for them to understand.  I find it frustrating, the randomness of this class of drugs!  Never know how I am going to be moment to moment!

Same here. They can’t see the tinnitus, sickening fatigue, looping thoughts, or night sweats. Thank God this issue is getting some traction in the mainstream.

My Son? The worlds bravest hard working loyal 23 - goin' on 45 young man?

 

He's witnessed over 6 months of "Iron Mum" becoming a vegetable, didn't know why, what was going on. He supports me fully, up to an often needed "mom, just do SOMETHING" never cruel, or nags. But I see the weariness, the lost hope in his eyes, hear it in the quiet. My heart breaks hurting him like this. 

 

He's been around "Recovering From Drugs/Booze" (seen our friends go through things etc) since birth. But this - ?? Tapering off thing?

 

How could he not look "yeah, right" when I told him?

 

Maybe some younger folks on here know a meme (me-me?) thingy ... Lot's of folks under 30 make short videos, Maybe someone tapering, or "Jumped" already has?

 

Folks his age genuinely live in a different paradigm... I suck w/ tube-you, maybe there's already one there "Hey man, here's what this is like..."?

In the Chewing the Fat thread, there is a post called 'Benzo withdrawl is like....' which has very good explanations and paradigms that maybe your son could read or listen to you read to him which could help him better understand what you are going through.  I don't know of any memes or videos, but if I come across one I'll let you know. ❤

I don't know of benzo w/d memes either but, the idea is thought provoking. In this "internet of things" world that we live, I'm a bit surprised someone hasn't taken benzo w/d symptoms viral in the form of memes.
