Civilisation computer game - total beginner. Help!

So I downloaded Civilisation VI to my iPad in the hope it might distract me while stuck lying on sofa.

 

I have never played computer games so am clueless.

 

I have looked but can’t find a very basic chart of what all the different symbols mean

 

So I have no idea what the forward arrow or crest moon etc mean?

 

Anybody want to help me put?

I played Civ with my kids a while back (on the computer though, not iPad) and found it to be a really nice game! My husband loves to conquer his Civ worlds on Sunday mornings over coffee...

Have sort of worked some of it out but can’t work out how to get thingsclike bonus food or build housing.

 

My citizens are fed up because of lack of housing and amenities...

 

If I send warriors or builders on to a hex does that mean they are automatically farming it.

 

It’s that really basic stuff I can’t work out.

 

Also I seem to spend all my time fighting off barbarian hordes...

 

 

The only other computer game I ever tried was Sims which came on old Sony Walkman phone years ago.

 

Basically I couldn’t keep up with it and Sim ended up jobless, no food etc. It was horribly like real life. My ME/CFS meant I couldn’t even build my seem a decent life which was bloody depressing.
