Shopping Mania Thread

Ok, so since my taper that started in 2007, I noticed I have shopped a lot, everyone has shopping mania, it's things you buy in withdrawal, or shop away, feeling better (or trying to) either online shopping or going to stores.

What have you bought during w/d?

I only started my spending sprees this year when I started feeling better.  So, 3 years previously, didn't spend money on anything.

Cookware, bakeware, kitchen electrics and tools etc.

Cookbooks

Other books

Rare and collectible Christmas ornaments

Needlework charts, threads and materials

The following food items shipped to my house because I can't get it where I live: Seafood shipped from the east and west coasts, organic chicken, prime and grassfed beef, cheeses, oils and specialty food items.

Normally, all this would make my hubs eyes bulge out of his head http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m575/maxmoo/Funny%20Pics/Smileys/Smack.gif except for 2 things:  1) He likes to eat well, but you'd never know it by looking at his trim bod, and 2) He's so happy I'm feeling more like my old self that he's making allowances.  BUT, after this month, the spending (except for groceries) must, sadly, come to an end. ;)

I've always been a crazy shopper - it's not just benzo related for me. lol I have boxes of things I haven't opened yet! Oh dear, that is bad. I love to shop online and have packages delivered. It's so fun!! As long as I have money in savings, and money to pay the bills, it's not a worry!

Apparently, you and I are the only ones who have "spending" as a benzo symptom, Keryn!

LOL, No I think there's others.. Shop Mania is well, a sx for me..

I still have a long winding list, but to count everything while tapering, don't think I could list it all.

1) Books.

But since w/d, I can't concentrate and have blurred vision, so I have piles of lonely, unread books!

2) Hair cuts/styles

I used to spend $100/year total cuts, $100 on color. Now, post benzo? $100 per cut and $150 per color!!

3) Charities

I'm throwing money at them like I don't need it. I've always supported many causes but in the last 2 years I've shelled out a lot of money for them!

...and this year I spent $700 on plants, pots, etc. for my garden and deck -- and the heat killed most of them within a month!

Yes this one too.. I bought a lot of plants and flowers, but the cold kills them here.

I went shopping last night, bought things that were well, really decorative.

I went to the Christmas tree Shoppe, a store we have here in the Northeast, NY, New England.. it's a fun store, always something there decorative.

OMG don't get me started on Christmas stuff!  I don't know how I've managed to avoid overspending on Christmas crap these last 2 years; probably because I've been so bah-humbug about it; but I can do serious damage at a Christmas store.

I have 400 ornaments. It takes a 13' tree to handle all of them and 5 hours to put them on it. It's ridiculous; the tree takes up 1/3 of our living room!

I didn't buy any ornaments last year, but this year I bought 3.  Which is weird, because we planned all year to not be home for the holiday so we knew we weren't putting up a tree.

3) Charities

Oh yeah....forgot about this.  Me too!

Me too!  It wouldn't seem like Christmas without giving to our favourite charities. :)

The UPS and DHS people are my BFF too.  ::)  I've suddenly developed fleecemania, wanting to feel cozy and cuddly all the time, and  the past 2 weeks have ordered house coats, tops, pea coats. hat, scarf, gloves...

Shopping... I used to love to shop and I hear ya Keryn - one day I dropped close to $1500.00, years ago on clothes, and oh, it wasn't a lot of clothes - of that I spent $300.00 on a matching bikini, sarong and sandals to go away for one day/night!

Lately, since I've been out and about I've bought sweatshirts and undees for hubby, socks and sweats for me - 2 very expensive facial solutions from Clarins - had 2 mani's a pedi, 4 massages, 1 cut and color and 1 facial...  I swear every time I leave the house I drop at least $75.00 bucks.  Maybe it's good I'm staying in today...
