I sat and watched a Christmas movie tonight, that I have had checked out from Netflix for "forever" (didn't order it because it was a Christmas movie...but it was Christmas by the time I watched it :-[ )

 

It is called Joyeux Noel...and is about the Christmas truce in 1914, during WW I.

 

Because it is a "war" movie, of course it had brutal scenes.  But most of the movie focused upon the truce between the French, the Germans, and the Scots.  Very amazing to think about the depths of this...

So many great scenes in this movie...

 

"Every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings"

We watch this every year as part of a family tradition.  A couple of years ago our city played it in one of the historic theaters so I took the family to see it there.  It was amazing to see on the big screen  :)

Bah, Humbug!  >:D

 

I'm not a fan of Christmas movies in general, but there are a few I like, from the 1940's/early 1950's:

 

 

"It Happened on Fifth Avenue," 1947, about a group of "hobos" camping out in a billionaire's mansion

 

"Miracle on 34th Street,"  the original from 1947

 

"A Christmas Carol," the 1951 version with Alistair Sim.  By far the best Scrooge, IMO.
