Recommended Posts

Inspired by vaartist's recent drawings, I've created this thread as a forum for Buddies who would like to share some of their creative talent.  Here, you can post images of your drawings, paintings, photography, origami, knitting and quilting projects, ceramics, gardening, cake decorating, etcetera along with anything you'd like to say about your creation.  Only rule is that what you post should be your creation (not just some picture that you like on the internet).

Remember that not everybody has high speed wifi, so please post the smallest file size possible that will adequately portray your work(s).

To get the ball rolling...  I think a few people know that I do astrophotography as a hobby.  Here's an offering from last month's solar eclipse.

This is my kitchen floor.  Just finished painting it a couple of weeks ago.

I don't know how to make the picture smaller.

Just click on modify and the number of the size will be there, I just looked and change the 500 to 400, and keep going until it looks right to you. I do it all the time with my Oldie's Thread pics. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Bads and Leslie.  Most of my best paintings were sold over the years, but this is one of the few good ones I have left.  It's in my living room now.  :smitten:

This is a quilted wall hanging I designed and made.  I was going for a stained glass window effect.

Thank you Marigold.  No, this one is just for hanging on the wall.  I have made many more less fancy ones for kids and grandkids and members of my family to use on their beds.  My mother was a quilter extaordinaire.  There's nothing like a handmade quilt to bring cozy warmth and cozy memories!  Its a very creative as well as practical endeavor.

I am looking closer at your kitchen floor masterpiece Challis.  That is so beautiful.  I am interested in the technical details.

What was your base flooring before painting?  Then exactly how did you do it?  Prep the base, paint the floor a base color, paint the design, etc.  Did you use a stencil or freeform it?  Did you seal it all afterwards and if so, what did you seal it with?  I love the colors too, very neutral yet striking.  And I love the way it matches what I can see of your cabinetry.  Did you paint your cabinets too?  I'm thinking all that took a lot of time on your hands and knees, so hopefully your back, knees, hips survived.
