The last thing we need is to pay a pile of money to crooks

who have frozen our computers with ransomware.

Don't click on emails or page links or popups that don't look trustworthy.

You can hover over the pick to show the destination in the edge of your screen.

If it's questionable don't pick on it; type in the real address if you want to go there.

Backup your important files and keep software up to date.

If you can, run a compressed backup to an external drive (which can be

much smaller than the internal drive; maybe a large thumb drive).

You can save an "image" of your entire hard drive to an external drive

that is larger than the internal drive.

(This is good policy in general for unforeseen incidents.)
