Kooky Song Lyrics

[Pe...]

Recommended Posts

Hey Pet. I get where you're at. I was too young for The Beatles, but older brothers, ya know?

Anyway, Steve Tyler has a vacation home right next door to ours.

Here's a very easy one. I bet Gilly gets it. Not going to name it and make you guys guess. This should be a dead give away.

Well, the rag man, draw circles

Up and down the block

I asked him what's the matter

Well, I know he don't talk

And the ladies treat me kindly

They furnish me with tea

But deep down in my heart

I know I can't escape.

Oh mamma! Can this really be the end?

I'm stuck inside of Mobile

With the Memphis blues again.

Bob Dylan:Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again, https://youtu.be/5WS-TTNaLyg  ;)

Originally on the album Blonde On Blonde (1966) along with one of his favourite songs of mine'' Just Like A Woman''

I was 6 then, Oh to be 6 year's old again  :)

Nova: :smitten: I knew someone would get it by the last two sentences. Oh how I wish I wasn't even born yet. Then later on, benzos would be banned. There is also an album by the Dead, who sing all Dylan songs. xoxoxo

And everyone will be on 'Nuke''  forums instead ::)

Nuke is a highly addictive and most pleasurable narcotic that was made by the drug lord and leader of the Nuke Cult, Cain in the film 'Robocop.

Types of Nuke

    Red Ramrod

    White Noise

    Blue Velvet

"There is a Nuke for every mood." (Sound familiar?)

        - Cain referring to his various versions of Nuke.

''Cain now works for Hoffman La Roche, who two millennia gave the old world 'Benzodiazepines' an ancient 'mood'' drug  >:(

Types of Benzodiazepines ...............!@#)(&?"!!!

Cool 8) about the ''Dead doing Dylan'', even if this sentence does look rude  ;)

Nova: I just know you'll get this song, and probably the name of the singer.

He was sitting in the lounge of The Empire Hotel.

He was drinking for diversion, he was thinking for himself

A little money riding on the Maple Leafs

Along comes a lady, in lacy sleeves

She says, let me sit down you know drinking alone

is a shame it's a shame it's a crying shame

look at those jokers, watching that damn hockey game

Hey honey, you've got lots of cash

bring us a bottle and we'll have some laughs

gin's what I'm drinking, I was raised on robbery

I'm a pretty good cook, sitting on my groceries

Come up to my kitchen, I'll show you my best recipe

I try and I try but can't save a cent

I'm up after midnight, cooking, trying to make my rent

I'm rough but I'm pleasing, I was raised on robbery

I've got a little money once, they pushing through a

four way highway

Government gave us $3,000, you should have seen it fly away

first he bought a '57 Biscane, he put it in a ditch

he drank up all the rest, that son of a bitch

you ain't bad looking and I like the way you hold your drink

come home with me honey, I ain't asking for no full length mink

hey honey, don't go yet

your glass ain't empty and we just met

you're mean when you're loaded,

I was raised on robbery.

Original version came from which album, Nova?

I just remembered these lyrics but I think ''stupid'' is a more appropriate  description  ::)

Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dream-coat – Any Dream Will Do Lyrics

I closed my eyes, drew back the curtain  ( You cannot see Nada mate!! :o your eyes are CLOSED!!!! :tickedoff:

To see for certain what I thought I knew

Far far away, someone was weeping

But the world was sleeping

Any dream will do

I wore my coat, with golden lining

Bright colors shining, wonderful and new

And in the east, the dawn was breaking

And the world was waking

Any dream will do

A crash of drums, a flash of light

My golden coat flew out of sight

The colors faded into darkness ( Make up your mind!! In the same breath the''Golden coat''( which apparently can also fly) is now suddenly coloured? ???

I was left alone.

May I return to the beginning

The light is dimming, ( Because your eyes were closed in the beginning!! Of course it was dim!!)

and the dream is too

The world and I, we are still waiting

Still hesitating

Any dream will do

A crash of drums, a flash of light

My golden coat flew out of sight

The colors faded into darkness

I was left alone

May I return to the beginning

The light is dimming, and the dream is too

The world and I, we are still waiting

Still hesitating

Any dream will do

Give me my coloured coat,

my amazing coloured coat!! ( So did he rob the Golden one in the first place only to have his ''coloured'' one robbed off him and is now trying to wrestle it back off said coat robber or what?  :D

Nova: Weird lyrics. But then again so is the movie. I had to write down that song because it is my fav Mitchell song. But it has to be played fast. One version where she sings it slowly ruins it. I also constantly think of this very nice verse from hers. "Buy your dreams a dollar down." Now what song is this Nova?  :smitten: :smitten:

Hi Bets  The song your referring to is actually called Morning Morgantown

Morning Morgantown

by Joni Mitchell

When morning comes to Morgantown

The merchants roll their awnings down

The milktrucks make their morning rounds

In morning Morgantown

We'll rise up early, with the sun

To ride the bus while everyone is yawning

And the day is young

In morning Morgantown

Morning Morgantown

Buy your dreams a dollar down

Morning any town you name

Morning's just the same

We'll find a table in the shade

And sip our tea and lemonade

And watch the morning on parade

In morning Morgantown

Ladies in their rainbow fashions

Colored stop and go lights flashing

We'll wink at total strangers passing

In morning Morgantown

Morning Morgantown

Buy your dreams a dollar down

Morning any town you name

Morning's just the same

I'd like to buy you everything

A wooden bird with painted wings

A window full of colored rings

In morning Morgantown

But the only thing I have to give

To make you smile, to win you with

Are all the mornings still to live

In morning Morgantown

And don't say I never give you nothing,  ;) click on this link  http://www.allmusic.com/album/court-and-spark-mw0000194904

That's my 2nd favorite song of hers. I listen to it often. Did you read her auto recently? I did, and she is a very complex person. A hard read, for an auto.  Uneducated but could probably get a PhD in Philosophy. She actually did get an honorary degree from McGill U. in Canada. ......She has a steel trap memory. Oh, I use You Tube a lot. For her and others who are favs of mine. I can even seem to find demos from The Beatles that have never been recorded. Like John's India.......... Here's a Paul demo that was never released on Abbey Road.

Joni Mitchell is 1st in her class. When I compare her to a certain legendary - even iconic - male folksinger of her generation, I think it's no contest. She blows him away. (I won't mention his name cause I don't want to start a big fight about this.) Anyone can strike a pose and play a part and act the irreverent clown and say nasty things about someone or everyone. But to tell the honest truth, simply and beautifully, as Joni Mitchell always did - that takes a special talent. And she never once sacrificed sense for sound (as The Icon so often did).

OK, I said it, and I'm not going to argue about it, so don't even start.

She is said to be the most influential singer of her time. That's so true. See how many artists copied her? Both Sides Now was recorded 1,000 different times by others. And her poetry! wow! Plus she has to voice of an  I don't know where she is at, health wise. :'(
