We've recently purchased a Canon camera and we're very pleased with it but I suppose it's all a matter of personal choice and how much you want to pay. There are lots of good makes of cameras out there.

Thanks Debby. There are many choices, but I don't know which is a good one. I found an Canon G15 for 365 $. Any ideas about this model, is a good one?

It's a very nice camera. There is also the Canon G16 which has better image processing and faster AF. As well, the Sony RX100 II is another solid point'n'shoot.

 

DSLR cameras have come down in price. Canon Rebel series are worth a look. Nikon 3300. $500 pricepoint. Custom lenses, more advanced photography, more to lug around.

Our model is a Canon SX50 HS and we're very pleased with it. I don't know a lot about cameras but my hubby has a friend who loves photography so we asked him. It wasn't cheap, about £350 (UK) but has everything we need and is straightforward to operate.
