Wonder if anyone ever danced to this song:

"Chantilly Lace" - Big Bopper (1958)

Here's one I came across that's really pretty ~ not sure it's dancing music, but

I like it.

"Mr Sandman" - The Chordettes (1954)

I danced where ever there was music. We use to have sock hops in HS in the gym. We would dance in our Bobby socks or stockings which would get ripped to shreds. Real classy back then. Usually it was to a record player....played the little 45 records. We also had a building that was called the Center, they had dances there every Friday night. Sometimes they would have live bands that played. Young teenagers would get together and form bands and play for nothing at the center. Use to cost a dime to get in, can you imagine that? A dime!

Those were the days....I remember I use to call my best friend up every night to find out what she was wearing to school the next day....how crazy was that? Who cared? It's not like we even had the same clothes....

Now, that sounds like a ton of fun!

Ten cents to get in and dance your heart out for the evening!

Did you wear the skirts with poodles on them?

And did you wear saddle shoes?  Just trying to envision this.

Your hair in a pony tail?

Good golly, those really were the days, weren't they.

Someone else needs to chime in here who took part in the fun stuff.

No, I didn't wear poodle skirts or saddle shoes or my hair in a pony tail. My hair was always cut short, it was naturally curly so I couldn't grow it long. The flip was in style when I was in HS. We use to wear shoes that were called desert boots. They were a boot that came to or ankle with fringe on them. We use to wear tight skirts or pleated skirts. Sweaters worn backwards with the buttons in the back. And scarves around our necks....

I love the description of the way you dressed.    The sweaters worn backwards - now that's

clever and I bet it looked great.    :)

Great song, "Earth Angel"  - love that.

This is the first song I remember ever hearing on the radio. It was in Manila and mom and I were going to the beauty parlor.

Wow, kinda ironic I guess. 62 years later a life damaged by benzos but I still got high hopes.

Chinook, for some reason your song didn't come up on my IPad, but I remember "High Hopes" by Frank Sanatra....

Here's one by Johnny Ace...name probably doesn't ring a bell, but I think the song will.
