50's Music

[Ja...]

Recommended Posts

I decided to put up a thread for music from the 50's because that's when a lot of the great Doo Wop

Group music was released, mostly in the late 50's...there might not be many on here that remember these songs, but they are very special to me....those were the best years of my life.

Earth Angel -Penquins.    1954

Great songs from the 50's tryinhard. The Platters were one of my favorite groups....there music was around for quite awhile. I was only 10 when "Only You" was released but I can remember it when I started liking boys, I guess that was around 12....ha, ha

Another one that was a Big Hit for the Platters was The Great Pretender  1955

And Smoke Gets in your Eyes

He really was amazing!    Okay, I tried.

Now, that is some fast dancing music.

I can just see you lively on that dance floor!  good golly, what kind of energy did that take.

You should give it a try this evening and see if you can keep up with the beat!!

Kind of surprised no one has posted any Elvis yet.

Here's two from the King:

Jailhouse Rock ~ 1956

Big Hunk O' Love ~ 1959

Interesting how Elvis' style changed over the years. Competition from Tom Jones and Englebert Humperdink had a say in that. Two other great singers/entertainers...still going strong today!

I love this song.

You've got me laughing again, Nancy.

the stockings with seams?    I can imagine that was a bit of a pain, but they looked so

incredible.

Did you dance in your stocking feet?

You were a regular ball of energy dancing the night away, weren't you?

Did you go to dances at school, or did you dance to a jukebox in a diner? I am just wondering. ;D
