True pet stories

I was just reading about a pet on a separate thread and it was so interesting and helped me to relax.  If anyone else has a pet story to share, it would fun to read it.  I'll share one of mine:

I have a bluepoint Siamese cat who used to be all white with bluish tips when she was a younger cat.  One time in the evening in winter after it had snowed, she got outside and jumped off the deck into the 7 inches of newly fallen blanket of snow below.  I couldn't see her since she blended into the whiteness.  I looked and looked and then drove up and down the streets searching for her with the white snow everywhere and covering the streets, as well.  I found her about an hour later sitting on a neighbor's porch all warm and content as if she had been inside their home the whole time visiting and staying warm.  Thank God their porch was brown wood, or I still wouldn't have seen her at all.

We had a Siamese cat years ago come visit. he LOVED kids and would hang out w my son and his friends in the house. he loved to sit in boxes.

we went to SPCA and got the cutest grown cat but he had been a blood donor at a vets and really hate to be picked up. i had to take him back.

my favorite cat just came hre and stayed 10 yrs. i dont know how old she was but we adopted her. she slept w me every night.. she loved whiskas cat food.  she didnt really like dogs but when i got my german shepherd as a puppy they became best buds. he had a huge bed and she would get on it and he would let her. when i walked him at night, she'd walk us to end of fence and wait for us to come back and escort us back to the house.

they used to sit side by side and wait for their treats :smitten:

I had one cat who learned how to open bedroom doors. She didn't care to be parted from the big heat source in the middle of the night.  She jumped up at the door knob, and on the way down her paws would turn the knob - just enough, and simultaneously push the door open, both just enough to loosen the door. Whereupon she'd just stand up on her hind legs and push the door fully open.

And she was the Great Sock Huntress.  She'd let us know when she had battled and dominated my wife's socks.

Another time, another cat- I'd call to her across a kid's playground. There was a carousel in between us. She hopped onto it, and I started turning the carousel- all the while calling to her to come over.  She did so, but after a few seconds of movement her ears laid back in perplexion.  She started up to a trot in an effort to come to me and I sped up the carousel in response. Eventually she was at a full gallop. Until I relented.

She never got onto the carousel again.

Today is my kitty's 5th birthday! Yes,April fool's day

He has always been such a prankster too. He loves to be chased and hide from you and chase you.

He runs around like a maniac making little chirping sounds and always makes us laugh.

He's part Maine Coon so he's very fluffy and talkative. He will have an entire conversation with you.

I let my (at the time) middle school aged daughter name him and she was into Japanese anime.

So his name is Sasuke (pronounced Sas-kay) which means ninja, warrior, help assistance.

Which definitely fits him because he ALWAYS has to be assisting you no matter what you are doing.

And he's definitely a ninja  :oXo:

Hi nickname is Foofy.

I had an Australian Shepherd, who grew to be about 70 lbs, that would run away from his own farts.

Seriously. Hahaha

Run away from his own farts. .  . hee, hee.  That's funny.  thanks for the laugh.

I mistakenly started feeding a feral/stray cat outside years ago and ended up adopting her because once you feed an outside cat, they never leave and depend on you for food.  She was mean because she wasn't tame and would bat at me every time I'd go outside.  But, she would also go for a walk with me and my Siamese cat, since she enjoyed the company of going for a walk. I think I took care of her for about 10 years until she finally died a few years ago.  I watched her and said goodbye to her a few days before she just disappeared and never came back.  I knew she was dying.  A three-legged cat came onto my porch a few years ago and I found the owners and they said his name was Pluto.  He was huge and lost a paw and leg and hopped.  He was very nice.  I had a tortoise-shell cat that lived to be 22 years old.  She was mean, too, and would attack me in the house all the time.  But, I loved her, too.  She could be nice.  I had a male cat that I thought was female and I named him Petunia.  When I realized he was male, I shortened his name to Tunie.  He went up on the highway and got hit.  He was very nice.  It was meant to be that he disappeared because I didn't have the room in here for him and my Siamese cat, plus my cat didn't like him and couldn't get used to him.  I take my cat for a walk on a leash, I don't let her go out and run loose.  Highway nearby and she likes to explore alot.  I let her just drag the orange line around and I keep an eye on it most of the time.

I had a dog that had the stinkiest toots… he'd wake himself up with them, and then look disgustedly at the humans in the room and get up and walk into another room like we did it.

My cat uses her paw to drink out of my water cup.  Just scoops water up on her paw and puts it to her mouth.  Sometimes she'll put her whole head in the plastic glass and drink it that way.  Her head barely fits into the cup.  She never knocks it over either.  She's very coordinated.

My cat is fascinated with water in any form.  He doesn't drink my water, but he will stick his paws in just to see if it's wet I guess.  He also puts his toys in his water bowl and then fishes them out and brings them to me.

I was doing dishes today and walked away from a sinkfull of soapy water.  The cat's tail fell into the soapy water since she was sitting on the edge of the sink.  I realized it later when the tip of her tail was wet.  She sniffed her soapy tail and wouldn't lick it off, so I rinsed it off for her.

I have three of them.

1. My malamute (we live next to a tony private Country Club) and I were watching the LPGA golfers practice for the tournament on a Thursday. I brought him to the side of the 11th hole while Nancy Lopez teed off. The ball went down the fairway and my dog ran out and picked it up and brought it back to her while she was still on the tee. I was about to run for my life but saw her laughing and then she gave MY DOG her autograph.

2. Every time I go to my bedroom and stay for a while one of my cats sits in my fireplace without moving as long as I stay there.

3. The other cat always follows me down to the cellar when I have to wash clothes. She always jumps up on the machine and tries to get inside. Next she tries to get in the dryer.

My cat jumps into the dryer too in the winter when the clothes are warm.  I'm glad I look inside before I turn it on again or she'd get tumbled dry.  Sometimes she'll jump down behind the machines and then can't jump back up.  One time she got stuck behind them and I had to coax her like a dog to jump back up the back and I had to catch her so she wouldn't slip back down.  My cat jumps up on top of the fridge and knocks my fridge magnets off.  She's a good jumper.

Well Becks:

I'll tell you a sad story about the washer and dryer. A friend of mine from Calif had two cats that she loved to pieces. A real cat nut. She gathered up her down puff and put it in the washing machine. Next she got it out and tossed it into the dryer. When she took the down puff out, both of her cats were in it and dead. She also lost her hubby, her job and her home the same month. She told me that out of all of these bad experiences, losing her cats was the worst... :'( :'(

I'm surprised your friend didn't see the cats in the dryer before she put her down puff in there.  That's horrible.  I always look inside the dryer when I'm putting stuff in it.

I used to breed my two Siamese cats.  Mimi decided to move her litter of kittens from the back of my closet to my sweater drawer.  I didn't like that idea so I moved them back to the closet.  I came upstairs later that day and she had opened the drawer somehow and moved the kittens back in there.  I moved them back to the closet and I had to put a chair in front of the drawer. :)

I found a litter of kittens from a feral mother and wanted to give them away to ppl.  Mom cat wouldn't let me take them, but I got a few of them and placed them to homes.  One of the kittens got be too old and I thought I could tame him.  I brought him home in a box and put him in my shed and he tore the place up.  He was like a wild squirrel.  I couldn't catch him, he was so wild.  He had to go back to his feral mother and home.  I took my cat for a walk on the leash today and the nabe said how beautiful she is.  Everyone says that.

They were bunched up inside the puff, so she didn't see them. Just to be safe, I just don't wash my down puff, after hearing that story. :'( I prefer to live in dirt.

Very nice post. About two years ago I got a new armchair and put it close to my bed. The first night I woke up very early, still dark, and was going to the toilet when I hit a part of the armchair so badly that I fell down the floor. Nothing happened to me but bruises .Two years have passed and every morning that I wake up in darkness, my Dog jumps from the bed before me and stands in front of the armchair for me no to fall down :smitten:
