Sweetest Day here in the Midwest U.S.

Just thought I'd pop in and say hello on Sweetest Day. Many people don't know about it, or think it is a holiday that's supposed to be like Valentine's Day, but in reality it started in Cleveland Ohio by a man that wanted to give treats to the elderly, poor, and shut ins. It really was supposed to be about extending kindness to people who don't often receive it. I couldn't let the day go by without visiting Benzo Buddies knowing the true purpose of today. I haven't posted as much because I soak up others' problems very easily and it makes me frightened, but that doesn't mean I don't care.

I'm still doing okay. Haven't tapered yet. That will probably happen soonish, but for now I am grateful for what I have and I hope that most of you have at least one thing to be grateful for, even if that thing is BenzoBuddies. I wish love and healing for everyone here, truly.

Love you all, and happy Sweetest Day.  :smitten:  :smitten:  :smitten:

Hey, I lived in North Royalton for 18 years, just 20 miles south of Cleveland. When I first got there from where I lived in CT, and saw the flower shop ads for Sweetest Day, I thought out loud, now what the hell is this? When I found out, I mentioned to my hubby that I expected flowers.....We moved because hubby got a great job at The Plain Dealer.

Apparently it's also celebrated in the northeast. But I'm glad that it at least started out with good intentions. I think it can be a romantic holiday if people want, but I tried to make it more about being nice to neighbors, etc.

Well, I now live back in the NE and nobody has ever heard of it. No more hubby, no more flowers.....
