Fantastic! I love it!

Lol, I thought you would, Lap.  :D

Exert from West end 1986's musical production

Narrated by Laurence Olivier

Awesome, merrysage, would've loved to have seen that production, have you seen it?  Thanks for sharing.

Pearl Jam - Yellow Ledbetter (1992): Music & Lyrics

Songfacts

The guitar part of this song is a tribute to Jimi Hendrix Little Wing. Mike McCready used the similar intro riff. One of my favorite solos and songs of all time. Along with Pearl Jam’s Alive. The lyrics are open to interpretation. But  I think they speak of loneliness and alienation in the modern world. Within a larger, anti-war context.

Yes, interesting lyrics, Estee, I had to pull them up cos I couldn't understand a word he was singing.  :D

-)  "The reason they named the song this is because the lyrics are indistinguishable just like the tongue twister."

-)  "The song has changed its meaning over time and Eddie changes the words to suit whatever is on his mind."  ;D

"Perfume River" - Fish

There were no sirens, I heard no alarms

This situation has somehow got completely out of hand

It’s no illusion, it’s not a dream

My eyes are open and all is as appears

It’s a perfect nightmare

It’s a perfect nightmare

In an imperfect world

I missed the wake up, slept through the dawn

The world’s a stage but I’ve declared the curtains drawn

Behind the fourth wall, behind the scenes

A discarded fading flower on the soporific sensual Perfume River

The perfect nightmare

Escape the perfect nightmare

Dream the perfect world

I close my mind in soft surrender

In quiet resignation take the lies

I lock the door, I lock the door

I junk the mail, I never open letters

Program numbers that I know I’ll never call

Collect addresses of friends who’ll soon be strangers

Message pending, I know just what it says

Should I accept another lie

I swallow all the lies

I live the lie

There are places that I know that I will never see

And some I wish I’d never seen before

The horror stalks my vision and the cries ring in my ears

I am helpless, I'm not brave, I'm alone

I wander the dark alleys of the citadel

The empty shops and burnt-out houses mark my way

And the bullet holes in stuccoed walls are testimony

To the voices disappeared within the fear

Take me away to the Perfume River

Carry me down to the Perfume River

Set me adrift on a well-stocked open boat

Show me the way to the Perfume River

Sail away down the Perfume River

Pour that sweet, sweet liquor down my throat

Fire breathing dragons swarm in sweltering skies

Spewing flame on the innocents below

Charred and brittle corpses, blackened evidence

I am enraged, I'm afraid, I'm forlorn

The ashes of wise pages fly from libraries

Tumble in the clouds of smoke and flies

To lie as dust in corners of dark palaces

The fetid smell of revolution haunts the air

Take me away down the Perfume River

Carry me down to the Perfume River

Set me adrift on a well-stocked open boat

Show me the way to the Perfume River

Send me away down the Perfume River

Pour that sweet, sweet liquor down my throat

Pour it down my throat

Sweet, sweet Perfume River

Carry me down to the Perfume River

Hold me down in the Perfume River

Where I’ll drown my sorrows and I’ll die in hope

Push me away down the Perfume River

To the swirls and eddies of the Perfume River

In these dark and muddy waters let me float

The truth I don’t want to know

Graeme Connors - The Road Less Travelled (Original music video)

https://youtu.be/j7XDAfD6E8o

In a world that grows, more confused each day,

The temptation gets stronger, for an easy way,

To cut that corner, play the lottery,

Then it moves a little, where no one can see,

But it gets us nowhere, 'cause the truth within,

Says it's not the being there, but the journey that matters in the end

So take the road less traveled,

Take the long way round,

Let your life unravel, as you cover that ground

Ride high in the saddle, face the world alone,

Take the road less traveled, and find your own way home

With the time we are given, and all we wanna do,

Occasionally a little fear may creep up on you,

And those voices whisper, in the back of your head,

Why try so hard, give up instead,

But it gets us nowhere, because the heart still knows,

If our lives are to have any meaning, there's only one way to go,

Take the road less traveled,

Take the long way round,

Let your life unravel, as you cover that ground

Ride high in the saddle, face the world alone,

Take the road less traveled, and find your own way home

Take the road less traveled,

Take the long way round,

Let your life unravel, as you cover that ground

Ride high in the saddle, face the world alone,

Take the road less traveled, and find your own way home

Take the long way round,

Let your life unravel, as you cover that ground

Ride high in the saddle, face the world alone,

Take the road less traveled, and find your own way home

Take the road less traveled,

find your own way home

"Out To Sea" - Lera Lynn

Take me to the land's divide

Let the waters rush out to tide

Well, this is all a dream

And I'll let it all go

Tell me how I should decide

The face of a man who will drive this ride

In fear of all man-made

Let it all go

[CHORUS:]

I wish I may, I wish I might

Ride this wave till morning light

Drop me off at the shore

Lay my head down

They say life's more than what we see

And surely in death that too will be

Just give me one chance more

To lay my head down

The rope's so short and the jump's so high

And falling sounds like a lullaby

The weight of all I know

Let it all go

The fragile line on which we dance

The thread of life left up to chance

The day you'll never know

Let it all go

[CHORUS]

And if they push me out to sea

Darling, won't you remember me

Oh, oh, oh

The rope's so short and the jump's so high

And falling sounds like a lullaby

The rope's so short and the jump's so high

And falling sounds like a lullaby

They say life's more than what we see

And surely in death that too will be

They say life's more than what we see

And surely in death that too will be

Graeme Connors - A Little Further North

and this is Australian scenery too

The sun sinks behind me in the west

This is the time of day I love best

Salt breezes murmur through the coconut palms

As the colors change, they set a scene of tropical

Seagulls heading back to land

Over the mangroves and salt pans

By a lazy creek with a six pack

And a fishing line

Win back some memories

Losing track of time

I head a little further north each year

Leave the cities behind

Out of sight, out of mind

And when my troubles can all dissappear

I head a little further north each year

Feeling the night wrapped around me

Eases my mind in serenity

Ocean waves are humming on the outer beach

The balmy nights and sultry days are welcome relief

I head a little further north each year

Leave the cities behind

Out of sight, out of mind

And when my troubles can all dissappear

I head a little further north each year

I head a little further north each year

Taking my mind to an easier time

And when there's silence and the night sky is clear

I head a little further north each year

"It's a Long Way There" - Little River Band

https://youtu.be/BDZyG0KJqik

Hey, everybody, yeah

Don't you feel that there's something

People on their own are getting nowhere

I'm on the road to see

If anything is anywhere or waiting

Just for me

Every night I walk around the city

Seems like I'll never know

That feeling of being together

When I go

And it's a long way there

It's a long way to where I'm going

And it's a long way there

It's a long way to where I'm going

Hey, everybody

Don't you feel that there's something

But you know in a moment

It is gone

I live for the day when I can hear people saying

That they know and they care for everyone

But I feel like I've been here for the whole of my life

Never knowing home

It's a long way

It's a long, long, long way there

I'm gonna keep on trying

I'm gonna keep on trying, yeah

I'm gonna keep on trying

Gonna keep on trying

Been away from home for such a long time

And got to know this town

But I don't seem to matter much to anyone

Who's around

Is there anybody around

Every night I walk around the city

Seems like I'll never know

The feeling of being together

When I go

And it's a long way there

It's a long way to where I'm going

And it's a long way there

It's a long way to where I'm going

Everybody knows it's a long way there

Oh, everybody knows it's a long way there

It's a long way

Driving around's kind of getting me down

And I know, and I know

It's a long, long way there

It's such a long, long way, long way

Hey, everybody, yeah

Don't you feel that there's something

Feel it, feel it

Hey, everybody, yeah

Don't you feel that there's something

"We All Fly Home" - Cher

Suddenly now

I'm beginning to see very clear

Yea, I'm free again

Making me feel all right

Look at me now

No more going through changes

Cause it's a little outrageous

Right there in the night

Sooner or later

You've got to let down your shield

Sooner or later, yeah

We all fly home

Well, we all fly home

And when a cold black night

Gives up the fight

Well, we all fly home

Where will you turn

When you're tired of running

Will you hear me calling

Telling you which way to go

Don't you pretend

That you don't feel the danger

Cause you're the only f** stranger

Out there in the cold ???

Sooner or later

You've got to let down your shield

Sooner or later, yeah

We all fly home

Well, we all fly home

And when a cold black night

Gives up the fight

Well, we all fly home

We all fly home

We all fly home

We all fly home

"Love Leads To Madness" - Nazareth

:sneaky:

107485167fd7c7eb1e49e5ef755da27f--pandas-playing-kid-photos.jpg

Do I feel alright

I'll go anywhere

You say you wanna take me

Save me, run away, steal away

Cause I feel alright

I'll do anything

You say you wanna make me

Take me, far away, run away

We've been up all night

Trying to avoid a situation

Hold me, let me feel your way

Cause I wanna stay

Let them all start talking

We won't give ourselves away

Our love leads to madness

Our love leads to madness

Our love leads to madness

Do you feel alright

And can you see me

When you're looking in your mirror

Crazy

Try to find a way

So your heart don't pay

Run away

Don't you give yourself away

Our love leads to madness

Our love leads to madness

Our love leads to madness

Our love

Madness

Our love

Madness

"Further to fall" - Dan Craig

Walk out on to that old dark road

The one that used to bring you down

You fall back on to the same old ways

But those were darker days you found

But still you go

It must be important to you

It must feel like nothing at all

When you're desperate

For something to prove

Just got a little further to fall

Just got a little further to fall

Just got a little further to fall

Just got a little further to fall

You backslid onto the curbs again

Where the words don't keep you warm

You hold tight onto a dead flashlight

Don't you wish you knew what for

Oh still you go

It must be important to you

It must feel like nothing before

When you're desperate

For something to prove

Just got a little further to fall

Just got a little further to fall

Just got a little further to fall

Just got a little further to fall

But hold tight and pray like you know

We get stuck sometimes

But these wheels will roll

These wheels will roll

And still you go, you go

It must be important to you

It must feel like nothing at all

When you're desperate

For something to prove

You've just got a little further to fall

You've just got a little further to fall

You've just got a little further to fall

You've just got a little further to fall

"The Raven" - The Alan Parsons Project

The clock struck midnight

And through my sleeping

I heard a tapping at my door

I looked but nothing lay in the darkness

And so I turned inside once more

To my amazement

There stood a raven

Whose shadow hung above my door

Then through the silence

It spoke the one word

That I shall hear for evermore

Nevermore

Thus quoth the raven

Nevermore

And still the raven remains in my room

No matter how much I implore

No words can soothe him

No prayer remove him

And I must hear for evermore

Quoth the raven

Nevermore

Thus quoth the raven

Nevermore

(x2)

Nevermore, nevermore, nevermore

Never

Nevermore, nevermore, nevermore

Never

Nevermore, nevermore, nevermore

Never

Nevermore

:smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Yeah, Eddie is an awesome singer. But it’s sometimes hard to understand the lyrics. According to Songfacts: He admits he wrote the song with one story in mind, which he told at a concert in Newark, New Jersey on August 7, 2008. The story was written during one of the wars. It is about a young grunger kid, all dressed up in his flannels with the long greasy hair. His brother goes off to fight in the war and gets killed. He gets a letter that comes in one of those yellow army envelopes and learns of his brother’s death. So, all upset, he decides to go out and walk it off. On his walk he passes a neat, middle-aged or elderly couple sitting on their front porch having some tea, and he sees that they have an American flag out. He gives a wave, because he feels like he relates: „The flag, my brother, you know...” But they don’t know, of course. They don’t know what’s underneath the grunge and the long hair. All they see are the outward appearances, and they don’t wave back [...]

I think the kid feels alone and heartbroken, like so many of us. He just doesn’t want to stay in a world like this. Full of indifferent human beings. When we wish sometimes ppl could see all the suffering that’s beneath the outward appearances. Unfortunately, ppl are not mind readers. And we’re sometimes too tired or upset to talk about our emotions. Strangely, some ppl wear masks all their lives and never reveal their true selves. They are like self-sufficient. Others long to be understood, but cannot just come forward and express their feelings. For me, the song is really about the loneliness we feel among other ppl. Sometimes ppl who seem to be close... It’s sad... The lyrics „Make me cry...” have a strange effect on me. Each time I listen to this beautiful song and think about the story about it. And it’s symbolic dimension. It actually makes me cry. There are few songs I cannot listen to without crying. The most beautiful song I’ve ever heard is „Little Wing” by Jimi Hendrix. The way he plays it is so wonderful it actually touches my soul. I listened to it as a kid, when someone close died. The guitar part in „Yellow Ledbetter” is actually similar to Jimi Hendrix „Little Wing”. I listened to many covers of „Little Wing” by the best guitarists in the world. No one was ever able to convey the emotions and play it like Jimi did. It’s a very difficult song to play on the guitar. And Jimi’s whole life was devoted to playing guitar as best he could. „Yellow Ledbetter” evokes similar feelings for me. Cannot say why. It just does. Well, owed it to Pearl Jam to write about one of their finest songs. Many hugs, abcd

Yes, it's amazing the emotions different songs evoke in different people, and at different times too, depending on mood/circumstances/etc.  Sometimes I get highly irritated listening to inspirational songs  and the maudlin ones speak to me, other times it's the reverse.  And then, there are those special few, as in your case which, for some reason, are "lifers", will always touch us very deeply.

I try to drop down a bit of something for everyone.  ;)

Hugs, Estee.

"If I Fall" - Tara MacLean

It seems so far to go

It took so long to get here

Now I'm saying things I swore I'd never say

And I'm afraid again

I thought I had it in me

I used to be so sure

There I was stronger than ever

And here I am blaming the hurt

[CHORUS:]

And if I fall

I will find a way back to my hands

I'm the only one

Who can help me find my feet again

Sweet little fighter

Sweet little scar

Sweet little fire

In my heart

It seems so easy now

Everything I dreamed about when I was a child

It looks like a good thing's here

And I think I'll stay for a while

[CHORUS]

You came in screaming

And never stopped

To listen to your one and only prayer

A place for you somewhere

Sweet little fighter

Sweet little scar

Sweet little fire

In my heart

And if I fall

I will find a way back to my hands

I'm the only one

Who can help me find my feet again

"I Believe in Miracles" - Deniece Williams

Every day I awake to see

The beauty of God's work on earth

And every time that a baby smiles

Or it begins to rain

It explains why

I still believe in miracles

I, I do believe in miracles, oh

Every time that the seasons change

Or birds begin to fly real high

Free sunshine and God's promise

Of eternal life in time

It's all mine

I, I still believe in miracles

I, I do believe in miracles, oh

Some people make a wish by starlight

Or rubbing lucky charms

And hold them real tight

But I know rare as gold

Oh, yes, I know why

I still believe in miracles

Ooh, I do believe in miracles

Ooh, I do believe in miracles

You can wish upon a star

But I do believe in miracles

Ooh, I still do believe in miracles

Charlie Landsborough - passing through

I met a man at the airport

Going home cause his brother had died

I tried to soften his sorrow

He smiled at me and replied

We're all passin through

Do unto others as you?d have done to you

Do what you can

You're fellow man is travelin too

We're all passin through

I keep his words in my memory

They keep my heart from consent

It's a lesson for livin

I'd pass on to all that I meet

We're all passin through

Do unto others as you?d have done to you

Do what you can

You're fellow man is travelin too

We're all passin through

No one knows how long their journey may be

Its not how far but how well you've traveled

That god will see

The old man smiled and departed

Our brief encounter ended

He left the seeds of a memory

And words I'll never forget

We're all passin through

Do unto others as you'd have done to you

Do what you can

Youre fellow man is travelin too

Were all passin through

We're all passin through

Do unto others as you?d have done to you

Do what you can

You're fellow man is travelin too

We're all passin through

We're all passin through

We're all passin through

"Right Down The Line" - Gerry Rafferty

http://d3i6fh83elv35t.cloudfront.net/newshour/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/1061526431-pandas.jpg

You know I need your love

You got that hold over me

Long as I got your love

You know that I'll never leave

When I wanted you to share my life

I had no doubt in my mind

And it's been you, woman

Right down the line

I know how much I lean on you

Only you can see

Changes that I've been through

Have left their mark on me

You've been as constant as a northern star

The brightest light that shines

It's been you, woman

Right down the line

I just wanna say

This is my way of telling you everything

I could never say before

Yeah, this is my way

Of telling you that every day

I'm loving you so much more

Cause you believed in me

Through my darkest night

Put something better inside of me

You brought me into the light

Threw away all those crazy dreams

I put them all behind

And it was you, woman

Right down the line

I just wanna say

This is my way of telling you everything

I could never say before

Yeah, this is my way

Of telling you that every day

I'm loving you so much more

If I should doubt myself

If I'm losing ground

I won't turn to someone else

They'd only let me down

When I wanted you to share my life

I had no doubt in my mind

And it's been you, woman

Right down the line

Hi abcd,

I'll listen to this one today a few more times. So nice! Thanks for the good wishes. I used my extra hour of time to lie in bed crying. Nope, little sleep for me these days. I hope you're hanging in there too!

Charlie Landsborough - What Happened To Love

https://youtu.be/91XPp_1Oe0c

Some people say

To go a long way

Forget about others

Think of number 1

Take what you can

From your fellow man

Doesn't matter who you walk upon

What happened to

Love your neighbor

As your self

Where it's needed

Give a little help

What happened to love

Some would sell Their soul to hell

For all the things money can buy

Power and fame is the name of their game

But you can't take it with you when you die

What happened to

Blessed are the humble And the weak

Blessed are the poor We turn the other cheek

What happened to love

I prefer to live life by that old black book

It's guided me along life's way

Of every hour

Of every day

Down every road I've took

This world today

Has gone a stray

So many bound by selfishness and pride

and chase  What's worthless and base

And wonder why they're never satisfied

Tell me what  Happened to... blessed are the pure

Isn't it beauty valued any more

What happened to love

What happened to love

What happened to love

The Climb

Miley Cyrus

I can almost see it

That dream I am dreaming

But there's a voice inside my head saying

You'll never reach it

Every step I'm taking

Every move I make feels

Lost with no direction

My faith is shaking

But I gotta keep trying

Gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain

I'm always gonna wanna make it move

Always gonna be a uphill battle

Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there

Ain't about what's waiting on the other side

It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing

The chances I'm taking

Sometimes might knock me down

But no, I'm not breaking

I may not know it

But these are the moments that

I'm gonna remember most, yeah

Just gotta keep going

And I, I got to be strong

Just keep pushing on

'Cause there's always gonna be another mountain

I'm always gonna wanna make it move

Always gonna be an uphill battle

Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there

Ain't about what's waiting on the other side

It's the climb, yeah!

There's always gonna be another mountain

I'm always gonna wanna make it move

Always gonna be an uphill battle

Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there

Ain't about what's waiting on the other side

It's the climb, yeah!

Keep on moving, keep climbing

Keep the faith, baby

It's all about, it's all about the climb

Keep the faith, keep your faith, whoa
