I also had heard that, sadly, she was in the hospital.

This is her studio cut of "Both Sides Now." I think we're all familiar here with looking at clouds from "both sides now." As far as Roy Orbison, what incredible vocal range and feeling.

Speaking of Joni, I have to share this:

her last public performance that I know of.

Very moving performance ~~  has me in tears.

The clarity of her voice is amazing

Hi Nancy,

Terrific song.

Was reading that it made the 2010 Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Yes, In's brings back a lot of memories from school....Sock Hops, etc. Here's another one that gives me chills when I listen to Brenda Lee's voice...She was only 15 years old when she recorded this in 1960.

I'm Sorry

Brenda Lee

In 1961, Dion released "The Wanderer." Here's a more recent version.

In 1962, Bob Dylan performed "Hard Rain" live at Carnegie Hall. This link is Hard Rain performed a while back with the Japanese Philharminiuc Orchestra. Stunning.

A few years ago, I saw them both on the same stage in NY. Both were Amazing.

Haha. I think it cool as well. People accused him of "selling out." He was also accused of selling out when he did electric, and many times over the years. I personally find it both annoying and humorous that some people make a living by analyzing others and writing about them superficially (as I see it anyway), as if people are sociological experiments. For example, with respect to him, people say all sorts of negative things and positive grandiose things. In both cases, IMHO, it's meaningless when it comes right down to it. What is meaningful is if you listen to his music and feel something and realize how many souls he's touched over the years. To paraphrase a line from an early song of his (maybe he was 19?) "If you got a knife and a fork, you gotta cut something." Anyway, end of mini-rant. After all, this is a music thread. And, Hmmm, did I just do what I accused others of doing? Nah, I don't think so! But maybe someone else will. :)

Tomorrow is  a long time. Recorded in the 60s but this was live in the 80s

Nancy,

Love Brenda Lee's voice.  HUGE voice for such a petite lady. :)

My sister was fascinated with her and used to sing a lot of her songs.

Here's another one by Brenda Lee:

"Coming on Strong"
