I have just read part of the thread "what porn does to your brain etc..."

 

What started off as an attempt to discuss a serious topic degenerated into sarcasm, hilarity etc and was eventually locked.

 

We all deserve respect and our posts should be treated seriously, not made fun of.

 

I had 3 months of being sexually over aroused and just HAD TO watch porn to alleviate it. I had no sexual partner. It was far from being funny and I am so glad it passed. The sexual over arousal subsided.

There are topics which some individuals simply cannot deal with appropriately, so they deal with it inappropriately (instead of just letting it go).  There have been various sex threads that have degenerated pretty quickly.  The atheist thread is another example.  It's sad that people who wish to have serious discussions about 'blue' topics have difficulty doing so without offending the sensitivities of a few special individuals (aka trolls) who feel compelled to share their mindlessness.

The OP also wrote specifically about pornography.  I have less than zero interest in pornography but dont see why any mention of it here would be completely off base when the creator of the thread wrote specifically about her experience. And she could have made her point about kindness without those specifics.

It is as lookingforward explained. Additionally (not that it is really any of your business), but there were prior complicating issues with Babyangel's comments to this thread. You and other members are not privy to all the ins and outs of moderation decisions, nor should you be. Please read the following policy document:

Further, I've read the thread you created today, Petition To Have Benzoid Removed From Administrative Team. I may be stating the obvious, but your post here and the 'Petition' thread you created smack of an agenda. This is not appreciated, no matter if the member 'targeted' is a member of the team or operates a standard BB account. By the way, Benzoid is not part of the administrative team, nor is he exactly a moderator. However, like most of the team, he has moderation powers and responsibilities. And, like all members of BB, he deserves respect. If you have a complaint, please follow the procedures outlined in the above linked document. By the way, although Benzoid published the policy document, it was developed with the participation of the team (including me) and OK'd by me.

the largest paragraph in your post deals with porn and how you used it to alleviate your 'problem.' yet babyangel was 'reprimanded' if you will, and not you. it was discrimination plain and simple...

i actually read something here before by a moderator that ALL of our private messages are viewable by staff if they want to evesdrop reading your private messages or practice their 'moderation" on you

 

and colin in the past when i got upset at a staff member somehow i wanted everyone else here on this forum see how i was wronged by posting what was wrongfully done to me

babyangel, you are once again spreading untruths on the forum.  No one and I mean none of the team including Colin has access to reading a member's PM's under normal circumstances.  The only way we can read a member's personal message is if the Personal Message is Reported by the member who received the message using the Report Function at the bottom of the message.

 

And even if the message is reported, the reported message is only reported to the Administrative team and shared with the rest of the moderation team on a case-by-case basis.

 

As far as being "wronged" and what was "wrongfully done to you", in your opinion; in my personal opinion as far as in other forums I have moderated in the past, by the numerous problems you have caused us here on BenzoBuddies, most other forums would have banned you completely.  BenzoBuddies has been extremely generous to you in this respect.

I have to chime in here for a second about the PM issue, in general.  I HAVE seen people's messages reposted in the forums by moderators; I don't remember who was involved, but I have seen it a few times. I knew they were PMs because the moderator said they were, example "the reason we were angry at you, person x, its because you actually said "blah blah" and here is the private message that talks about it": repost.

 

That's happened more than once, and as a privacy advocate on matters where reasonable privacy should be expected (such as PM content) I don't condone that behavior, and also always found it tacky.

 

At any rate, I also think it's best for everyone here - mods and buddies alike - to leave past messages/threads alone and to move on. I'm glad to have a community like this for benzo support; it bugs me to see people being petty etc.
