The citric acid in gatorade really upsets my gut.

Some major sports teams have gone away from gatorade in favor of ,,,,,,, Pedialyte.

Hi BenzoHelllp,

I'm so sorry that you are going through this. I can't give you any medical advice, but my opinion is that the ER will do nothing for you.  They won't understand, you will wait a long time in misery for nothing.  What you are experiencing is common during withdrawal.

One of my worst set of sx were GI related:  Nausea, tummy lock, urgent and frequent/sandy BMs, painful bloat and gas...  I lost about 13 pounds that I couldn't afford to lose. I was very worried about it.  Many meals I just couldn't eat.  Hubby would make me small portions and cheer lead me on to eat just one bite.  I developed a lactose intolerance and also can't eat peppers or onions.  These foods put me into horrid, painful bloat/cramps and diarrhea.  During these episodes I was so bad I thought I would die.

I'm happy to report that at almost 5 months off most of these GI sx are history.  I've gained 4 pounds back (very slowly).  I still have the bloat and frequent/sandy BMs but can live with these :)

Anyway -- through all of these I used pepto bismul when the sx were severe and ginger ale or peppermint candy when the nausea was mild.

I drink a shake each morning...  Blueberries, strawberries, banana walnuts, flaxseed, kifer, mango juice, cinnamon, water...    I try to get as many nutritious foods down that I canduring the day... even if it is a couple of bites.  Try to eat small meals every 2 - 3 hours if you can.

Some folks have luck with the BRAT diet - bananas, rice, applesauce, toast.

I wish there were something that could help ...  sadly the only thing is time.  All of the sx are the body trying to repair the damage done by the drugs.

Hang in there...  it will get better.

If you don't mind me asking... why did you start prozac?

Best of luck to you!

I see you are 9 weeks off.  9 - 12 were my worst; but remember that each person's recovery journey is unique.

benzohelllp,

If your nausea is severe enough to the point where remedies like ginger and peppermint aren't working, you could try OTC Dramamine "original"(Dimenhydrinate), it has a very good anti-emetic property to it and if that doesn't work a doctor could prescribe Phenegan(promothiazine) which is quite bit stronger. You don't want to do any driving with these. They can make you very sleepy, which could be a good side benefit. These are both an antihistamine and do not work on the benzodiazepine receptors. This could at least allow you a break to be able eat something.

Have you tried Boost or one of the nutrition drinks?  Do you have insurance?  It sounds like maybe a nutritionist might be able to help get you eating some proper foods to build you back up.  I'm not sure whether Boost or drinks like them would make you feel worse regarding the nausea.  I've heard remeron is an a/d that might help with appetite and nausea, might be something to talk to your doctor about.  Prozac for some makes them more anxious and revved up.
