[He...]
Okay, I have been smoking about 40 a day since I got sick, then got prescribed Diazepam, then (what is now) my third horrendous wd, plus god knows what at the back of it from my illness, (which can be horrendous in it's own right) - Stress got me smoking again, but daily I curse myself for doing it, it is the one thing I could stop and would for sure make a positive impact on my body's ability to repair, if not also psychologically, that I am doing something active to help. So, I took the plunge today. Got a packet of Nicotine patches and have first on now. To commit I have added a Smoke Free Ticker here, figured doing so will help me stay commited. Small step I know, but got to be good for my overall health and possibility of getting some standard of life back, I have had improvement, was in a wheelchair for some time last year, could hardly speak for a while too, (figure that was severe wd - after dropping 4mg in 4 weeks) - so - on and up, cigs first, benzos next, tramadol after that provided I have no long term horrendous pain issues then - LIFE AHHHHHHHHH . Wish me luck?

[Fl...]
Good luck, Henry! Know that some of the depression you may feel will be coming from quitting smoking. But it is fairly short lived. Hang in there and good for you!! Flip

[He...]
Thanks you guys - Alan, I smoked a little weed too last year, for medical reasons, totally got rid of the nerve pain I get after a very small amount, but I could not handle the psychological effects on top of the anxiety symptoms, made them worse. Went to doc, there is a drug called Sativex, which is given to MS patients for pain, (I have a medical condition quite similar in it's effects on nervous system as MS) - Sativex is extracted from Cannabis, (doesn't get you high, it's a spray for under the tongue) can't get that (even though I told him about the effect a small amount of weed had) What a crazy world, something I know works for crazy pain, they will not give me, but they give me diazepam for 18 months without question and without pointing out the dangers. Don't you just love the docs?
