Now 1 year since zero and having Protracted Withdrawal Syndrome. Interactions with other medicines causing much suffering, even eyedrops and laxatives. Welcome PapaDoc,

Your post makes me so sad.  What symptoms are you having still?  Why are you afraid to see your doctor?

Dear Challis and Others,

Kind of you to ask. Scheduled for Barium Swallow in two days and dont trust the chemicals. Had a Barium Enema two days ago and I laid down to die last night. Stomach cramps and just bad, bad, bad all over. I tracked it down to the laxative I had to take the night before. It was Dulcolax, brand name for bisacodyl, which is clear on the internet not to give to benzo patients. I had told my GI doctor but the radiologist did not get the word or did not know the benzo-bisacodyl interaction.

This is on top of benzo reaction from cataract surgery just weeks ago. Ended up in ER and hospitalized 3 days for Hypertensive Emergency (210/110). I had told the opthamologist I was on benzo withdrawal and could not do quinolone antibiotics. He said he was taking benzo for years and never had any effects. He prescribed oral antibiotic from the cephalosporin family for 3 days. Turned out it was not the oral (probably), it was the eye drops. The antibiotic eyedrop was a quinolone and the anti-inflammatory eyedrop was a corticosteroid. Together they are even more horrible. After I got out of the hospital, I told him about it. "It couldnt be", he said, "it is just local". Turns out eyedrops do result in systemic absorption through the nasopharyngeal.

Also, when I got to the ER, I told the doctor I was in benzo withdrawal. After all was said and done and I went to leave, he gave me 3 pills to take. Upon asking, turned out one was for "anti-anxiety". It was Alpraline, which is one of the many names for Xanax.

Next step is the Barium Swallow for GI stomach cramps and bloating (also benzo symptoms). Has anyone had this test? Was it okay? Any reaction to that or magnesium carbonate I took for the enema. I would really appreciate your help.
