[Sc...]
I am sobbing here...I already wrote a thread about rib pain, but after going to my chiropractor and getting temp. relief this evening, I am now in pain EVERYWHERE. My ribs ache and it feels as though a balloon is blowing up under them, then it releases...nerve pain all over my abdomen (sharp twinges)...pins and needles/numbness along my shoulder blades. I am in SO much pain and can't believe it. I have been doing really well and then this has all been creeping up on me. Now the pain is so bad I can't sit/stand/walk w/out relief. I was just in the hospital last week for pain and I know I'm ok (or at least the issues I discovered wouldn't cause this)...and I know all of these feelings can come on during w/d as I have had it all throughout my taper. But this is BY FAR the worst I've had this pain. It is as though my body is screaming at me. I have gone to my chiropractor throughout this entire process w/ no issues, so I can't blame it on that...the pain is so bad I feel faint w/ it. Anyone else had it this extreme? I hope I described it well. Even my hands go numb. Scared and exhausted. Love, Schatje
[ro...]
Hey Schatje, Well about 3 months off I developed some weird pains in my butt, thought it was hemmoroids, had it checked no- then developed awful pains in my rectum with a swollen lymph node in my groin about month 5. Had minor surgery to explore what was going on ,found nothing, then around month 7-8 I started having pains thru out my pelvic area,I could.nt even sit it hurt so bad, nothing really helped.Had plenty of tests to see if it was my prostate-made sense to Docs. Anyway this continued for many more months ,sometimes the pain was just awful, antibiotics were a mistake, flared me up something awful thinking I had an infection. Took awhile alot of research but finally I figured it out,all my pelvic pains were due to contracting my pelvic floor muscles while I slept, they were getting over tightened from unconscious spasms-all due to benzo withdrawals, around month 16-17 things have quieted down . It all relates to my withdrawal level on any given day it seems.maybe the issue for you also, our muscles especially our abs, pelvic floor are not made to spasm like this -we just get very sore. Anyway That's Story, Rondo

The pain and numbness are unrelenting - the worst I've had since my taper and maybe even worse than that. So scared but trying to remain calm so not to make it even worse. I thank you very much for taking the time to respond...it means a lot. Hugs, Schatje
[Me...]
My pain increased with the relative tolerance and I was clueless to the cause and the docs were all very weird to me, but finally the 5th doc said to increase my benzo dose and I stabilized for one week and then saw the pdoc who switched me over to Valium. THe Valium is not as pain inducing as the Clonazepam during the withdrawal. It seems that I have traded antregrade amnesia for severe pain. I prefer the amnesia. However, the same doc also diagnosed one reason for the pain and is treating it appropriately so I am full of gratitude to have a doc so smart and he has referred me to the pain clinic too and eventually I will see a rhuematoloigist, I beleive. I started Rehab today.... Still withdrawing and still sucks, but Pain is typical WD symptom.

[pi...]
Schatje, I started having more nerve, muscle pain today. I know I probably ( definitely) overdid it this weekend enjoying 2 bike rides. I had a lot of errands today and my body just started seizing up. I felt no anxiety, no mental issues at all. My heart was beating regularly, my blood pressure I am sure was its usually low level, but my insides were overreacting. My clothes even felt prickly on me and I was kind of dizzy and nauseous. I finished all my lessons but it was uncomfortable. I was surprised that this was happening to me. I'm still surprised. I was able to teach and it did distract me but it is also distracting. So I guess I'm right there with you and I hope it passes soon for us and all the buddies. Hugs, pianogirl
[Sc...]
Thank you Memories, Elsie and Pianogirl for your responses. Today the pain isn't as extreme, but bad enough and I get this numb feeling all down my ribs w/ it...and my insides feel ITCHY? Do you know that feeling??? I've never had this. I want to crawl into my body and itch things, but can't. What is this at 8+ months off?! I didn't even have this during my taper and I feel like my body is angry. My tongue is cracked, dry and feels like sandpaper, I am fatigued again (though that stems I think from the pain tiring me out) and I feel SO down and emotional. I was doing SO well! Hugs to all, Schatje
[He...]
I have a nerve pain throughout my whole torso, had it on and off (more on) for around 16 months, flares up worse when I am cutting down on dose. It has to be the worst pain I have ever had, am hoping it is not permanent damage, good to know that nerve pain is common in wd, but really sorry for the pain you have had recently Schatje. Good to hear it is calming down a bit. The pain I have has in the past dissapeared for days, even over a week at a time, so I guess some healing has been going on. I had a massage around a couple months ago, and that really brought it back big time, (must have overstimulated the nervous system I guess? - Maybe your chiro visit did the same?) I had also had massages prior with no real noticeable difference. Got it real bad now, 10/10 on pain scale, been to pain clinic, but not much there, doc openly admitted they are no good at controlling nerve pain. Suggested a few drugs, but I am too scared to add to the mix. Hope you heal real soon.

Hi all, My nerve pain is a lot better today, I slept really well last night. My muscles still are an issue though, I think Rondo described it perfectly. Tommorrow I have my first accupuncture session post benzo so we'll see how that goes. I am taking the additional vitamin D as per doctors orders, my levels were really low and she said that can cause muscle cramping and pain. I still think its wd though. pianogirl
[Me...]
I have a pain clinic in my town, so I see them and they have cognitive and physical rehab approach to the pain since I don't want anymore medications! I am pretty pumped! I have lived with chronic pain for 20 years and ignored it, but no longer.. I can't wait to see if I improve! The valium cross over made a huge difference in the nerve pain and my physio is helping me learn how to "glide" my nerves and that is helpful too. [Sc...]
I am so scared guys. Now the pain is in the solar plexus and my back. Could this be the gallstones? I wish I never found out about them b/c i have become obsessed with it. I've never been obsessed over something the way I am with this. Everything between my pelvis and shoulders hurt. It comes and goes but something always hurts. The worse pain was right sided but today it is left. I might go back to the doctor for the gallbladder just to get her opinion. I am also nauseous again and the adrenaline rushes are crazy. Just want to scream. :'(
[pi...]
Schatje, I never had pain in my shoulder or my back with gallstones. I would get this tight feeling around the upper part of my stomach, then it would cramp up really bad and I would vomit. After the attack would pass I would be fine. Thats why I always thought I had a stomach bug, because it would come and then disappear for days or weeks. I am so sorry you have to go through this..... Its not a bad idea to get it checked out though. Hugs, pianogirl
[ki...]
DEar sweet Schatje, I'm so sorry you are in such pain. I just wanted to tell you to stay away from the ginger if you have gall stones, as it may aggravate the condition. Your in my thoughts and prayers sweetie. [Sc...]
Alan99, I still have the pain in my ribs and back...and sometimes they feel numb and other times I also get prickly skin and it hurts to touch the skin. Then I'll get stabbing pain in my ribs and just under (which is why I stress and worry about my gallbladder). My tongue is a bit better than it was, but still pretty cracked. I was tested for UTI and did test positive, but then fought it naturally (lots of water, cranberry pills) and the 2nd test came back negative. The pain is what is exhausted me - plus I am at this whole new level of anxiety b/c of the pain, so I am always on edge. I managed to go to the movies last night and I went shopping today for groceries - so I'm functioning...but very sore and worn out. [sw...]
I've had some pretty intense nerve pain, myself, recently. There is no shame in pain medicine if you are comfortable with it. It takes a while to build up a tolerance and even if you did develope one I bet you'd be smart enough to stop before you had problems with it. Hang in there and I hope you get some relief, soon. [Pr...]
Schat, honey, have you had a HIDA scan? They can do it in the ER in the middle of an attack. It will tell you if your gallbladder output is normal despite your stones. That would let you know for sure if you're symptomatic due to your gallbladder. [Sc...]
Schat, honey, have you had a HIDA scan? They can do it in the ER in the middle of an attack. It will tell you if your gallbladder output is normal despite your stones. That would let you know for sure if you're symptomatic due to your gallbladder. They did an ultrasound...is that the same? They said my gallbladder was fine - not inflamed or irritated....just 2 small stones. Today I feel like it's w/d related...the pain is EVERYWHERE. [el...]
Hi Schatje,No its different from an ultra sound. They inject dye into your vain in your arm, then you have to lay there for a long time until that dye travels to your Gallbladder. This was the test I had done.Your symptoms just sound so much like mine.I hate that we are sharing symptoms
[Pr...]
Yea, as elsie said, it measures the rate the dye travels through your gallbladder and that lets them know if the stones have blocked it whether partially or fully. I don't know if a blocked gallbladder is necessarily an inflamed one, that's a question for the Dr. Sounds like a relief that you're hurting all over today though! Lol! [Sc...]
I'm back again...was up till 4am with discomfort under my right rib cage as well as ovaries/lower back. I am so hesitant to go back to the GP b/c I've heard of a few members (as well as people I know outside of the forum) who had their gallbladder removed, only to then still have the pain! I'm not having gallbladder attacks - I've heard the pain is horrible, and for me I just have this gnawing and at times nerve-like pain. It comes and goes, but I had it all night and then couldn't sleep b/c I was worrying so much. My husband thinks it's all w/d...but I am so confused. If I go to the doctor, she'll just say it's my gallbladder and suggest I see a surgeon...but I don't want it removed as i've never had an attack and I eat healthy. I am small in size and keep good care of myself. I've read it's possible to have stones and never have an attack - they call them silent stones. But now I worry that my gallbladder is not functioning properly...AND I wonder if I had never found out about them at all if I'd have any of this pain. It's b/c I know about it that I'm maybe creating things...I'm really confused. The pain had been subsiding and I was able to relax more, but now after last night, I am back at square one w/ my worrying. Did any of you have this kind of pain with OUT any gallbladder issues...it was only w/d? Shooting pains under and around ribs (right sided mainly, but some left as well) Gnawing/pressure-like pain under right rib cage The feeling of your ribs shifting especially when coughing/laughing (Ii feel like I have to keep holding my ribs in) Thanks for any feedback...I am tired of visiting my doctor and honestly hope this is mainly w/d related and that it will pass. I am so angry that I could have gallbladder issues when I'm so healthy otherwise. I feel like so much strange stuff has happened as a result of these pills...ovarian cysts, lumps in breast, now stones...I'm tired out. Hugs, Schatje P.S. Also wanted to add that w/ this rib pain, I also have nerve pain that is primarily right sided...it's like having shingles..but w/out shingles. So that makes me lean to w/d seeing as how my body is obviously working hard at healing - and for whatever the right side of my body.
