[br...]
Hey all, It's been a while and I'm going back to the dentist to get some cleaning done, etc. I'm suspecting they'll want to clean up a filling or two. Just wondering if anyone here has had any experiences at the dentist that would affect WD, or anything I should be aware of? (Meds, numbing, etc.) I'm guessing it's a non-issue, but being 10 months out and in big wave after having felt better for a while... I don't want to shake the apple-cart. Appreciate any thoughts... [Au...]
If you need to get frozen, ask for the shot with NO EPINEPHRINE. The dentist will know...they have 2 kinds of shots, with and without... the epinephrine shot has adrenaline in it, and could affect you in w/d, they use it because it lasts longer. [la...]
Hey B, I went to the dentist to have a cleaning done and a few fillings. It was fine. I only asked for an anesthesia without epi and it was good. Laura

[br...]
Though, this just dawned on me... I know I've heard of people with tooth pain during WD. I'm assuming this is filling-pain. It feels like it's right inside my tooth. But, I also feel it a bit on the other side, almost the same tooth. This couldn't possibly be more benzo nonsense, could it? I mean, it feels like a bad filling or a cavity.
[br...]
And yet ANOTHER question. There is a product called "Orajel" that is for tooth pain. I was considering picking some up, but I see the main ingredient is called... wait for it... BENZOcain. I know it's not a benzo, but I'm curious if anyone knows anything about this med, and if it is safe? Thanks!
[su...]
Hello bryan68, I saw your question and put together some information that may be helpful. I am the type of person who seeks to know what is happening and why, it brings comfort to me. I hope it does the same for you. “The Accidental Addict” by Di Russell & Di Porritt, 2006 Teeth and Gums A number of people experience sore teeth, more like neuralgia than toothache. Their teeth feel loose and their sockets and very sensitive to hot and cold. Sore, bleeding gums are common. “Benzo-Wise, A Recovery Companion” by Bliss Johns, 2010 Symptoms from A to Z Tooth/Gum/Mouth pain: nerves in teeth hurt, gum hurts, all teeth in mouth hurt. Bruxism/Teeth grinding: occurs during sleep (often associated with tolerance or as a side effect while still on drug) Dry Mouth: mouth dry and feeling as if no saliva Love to you, Summer
[su...]
Hello bryan68, I have teeth that hurt and here is what I have added to my routine to help: I wear a night guard to help with the grinding. It helps reduce the grinding and if it does not do that it at least helps the teeth not wear down. I also use Sensitive toothpaste and home fluoride treatments. The other thing that may be worth telling your dentist is: Dry Mouth Dry mouth robs your mouth of saliva, which is your protection against cavities. Dentists are aware that many medications cause dry mouth. They may not be aware that benzodiazepines are one of those causes. Here are the references: “Benzo-Wise, A Recovery Companion” by Bliss Johns, 2010 Symptoms from A to Z Dry mouth: mouth dry and feeling as if no saliva “The Accidental Addict” by Di Porritt & Di Russell, 2006 Mouth and Tongue Many people have too much saliva and are continually wiping the corners of their mouths – whereas others suffer from dry mouths. A few unfortunates have both. So, here is what my dentist recommended for dry mouth. He gave me Salese lozenges. He let me know they can also be ordered online at their website, Nuvora.com. He also recommended Biotene Dry Mouth Oral Rinse. In addition, my dentist prescribed home fluoride treatment. I use 1.1% neutral sodium fluoride gel. He also gave me the option of using prescription fluoride toothpaste. I also use a Sensitive toothpaste. I have found that following this advice has reduced my dental pain, strengthened my teeth, and to date, I have no cavities. I hope this is helpful, Summer
[Au...]
I don't know anything about the oragel product...sorry. My teeth pain from w/d is like a nerve pain, quick and sharp... good to have yours checked out anyway...if it's a cavity, they'll fix it...if they don't find anything, then chalk it up to w/d - but don't go getting any root canals or anything until benzo w/d is completely over!!!! Wouldn't want you to lose your teeth for nothing!
[no...]
Hey Bryan, I had some tooth pain a couple weeks ago. Sensitivity, felt like maybe a cavity. Was due for a cleaning anyway, and they did xrays. Nothing. They probed around and did an intense cleaning. Gave me some sensitive toothpaste. I forgot to use it, and the pain went away on its own. I am totally convinced its withdrawal related. Never had it til 6 1/2 months out. Now having alot of other weirs first time stuff as well. Good to have it checked though. You handle everything this throws at you pretty damn well, I must say. Good luck. Susan
[br...]
You know, I was sure this was cavity related when I started this thread. Now I'm not so sure. The tooth on the OTHER side (matching one) is kind of doing the same thing. I'm still going tomorrow, but this is some very wacky stuff. Geesh. Just take a minute and think about a year or so from now... when we don't have any of this nonsense to deal with. How blissful life will be. Thanks. Me too, Bryan...same story a few months back. Lots of pain and sensitivity and was CONVINCED it was cavities. Had the x-ray done and cleaning...and my teeth were 100%! Now I have it again, so I am seeing my dentist on Wednesday. Lots of pain from one or two molars on the right side that radiates down my jaw and even along my tongue. I'm also clenching my teeth at night I think. We will get there!!!

I know it's not a benzo, but I'm curious if anyone knows anything about this med, and if it is safe? Thanks! I had a couple molar teeth on my upper right that were hurting after discontinuing the Valium I was on and I didn't know it was a symptom at the time. So, I was in for a "cleaning" anyway and asked the dentist if he could see a crack or leak or some reason why these two teeth were hurting. He saw nothing on the x-ray or by viewing with the ultraviolet light. He said they looked fine and said we'll just note it and put a "watch" on them. Well, they have since stopped hurting, no more pain there at all. BTW, you can try the "Orajel", but it seems to work much better on sore gums. I don't know if it could help with what seemed like for me, more pain coming from the root or pulp of the tooth. It probably wouldn't hurt to try it. [br...]
Wow. Wow.... just wow. Went to the dentist. Teeth are 100% fine. No cavities, no cracks... got them cleaned and a perfect bill of health. This stuff is just unreal. I didn't even tell my dentist about WD. Didn't want another medical "pro" to look at me like I was nuts.
