[Me...]
I appreciate all the positive feedback, help and advice and support, but one thing which makes me so confused is when some people say- 'your going down to slow, you need to go faster to get the crap out your system'.... (I've heard this one a few times). 'you need to go down slower...'(if I went any slower I'd be there forever). 'reinstating is a bad idea....' (I reinstated, so to hear this is not exactly the most hopeful thing to hear). The way I do it, is I go at my own pace, I go down when I'm ready to, .5 mg v, if I feel bad and not readjusted, I won't make another taper until I do so. Anyone else get confused when people give certain advice about tapering? It's a confusing and horrendous place to be as it is....
[DD...]
Hey Messed up. I think the people on the boards kind of weigh in on things. It really is about YOU and your body!! Each w/d is different, so people are going by their own experience....I think you are right where you need to be as far as tapering....keep on going! We will get there slow and steady!! [Me...]
Thanks. I'm note talking about this site in particular, I'm talking about a vast range of places where they discuss what's best and not. So it's not a personal thing on this site, in fact, the rant, if you can call it that, was more about a friend on another site telling me I should come off quicker (whose been there also), it's just profoundly confusing ya know? [De...]
Hi MessedUp, I know exactly what you mean. It's so difficult to know what to do for the best. I've hit a point in my taper where I'm particularly symptomatic. I've been holding for a few weeks but things are not improving so am resuming my taper with great reservations as I feel frustrated that I am not getting any further down and yet am still feeling very unwell. Like you, I have been looking on sites everywhere for inspiration but there are so many conflicting views, suppose we just need to be more patient but that is not easy when you are suffering. Hope things improve for you very soon. Debbie
[ve...]
Hi MessedUp. I agree that there sometimes seems to be a majority of folks who are "anti reinstatement". I think it's mostly because of their own experience or they just have a bias towards going off the benzo, rather than back on or upping a dose. I reinstated like you, after a c/t, and I was glad I did. I have also weighed in a few times here where I thought somebody went really fast and didn't realize that reinstating or "dose correcting" was a legitemate option. That being said, when one is tapering and in withdrawal, one can become overly sensitive to what people say, advise or how they say it. That's normal too but I always try to realize folks mean well. People are free to express their opinion and others sometimes chime in, sometimes they have a different view. I think that makes the forum better to have free expression of ideas and opinions. I realize it can be frustrating sometimes when somebody thinks you're not doing it "right". we have the ultimate decision though as to whether to cut, hold or dose correct up. Sounds like you're making good progress. Looking forward to meeting you on the other side of benzo freedom . Vertigo
