[jo...]
Hello, A few weeks ago, I was asking BB about W/D for lung and heart discomfort, and someone quoted Ashton's manual for me. That really helps. I now have the breathing problem, can any BB help me locating the paragraphs talking about "breathing problem" from the Ashton's manual? Will my breathing problem go away eventually? i constantly feel difficult breathing.....and am feeling anxiety from time to time. The anxiety made my breathing even more difficult.....very scared. I feel my brain is running very fast and anxiously, so is my nose...very sensitive to cold and hit and I feel my nose is running anxiously the same time my brain is running anxiously. Does that sound W/D from Ativan? Thank you for your help in advance. Thank you!!
[su...]
Hello joychencarl, I saw your question and put together some information that may be helpful. I am the type of person who seeks to know what is happening and why, it brings comfort to me. I hope it does the same for you. "The Ashton Manual" by Heather Ashton, 2002 BENZODIAZEPINE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS: INDIVIDUAL SYMPTOMS, THEIR CAUSES AND HOW TO DEAL WITH THEM Heart and lungs. “Palpitations, pounding heart, rapid pulse, flushing, sweating, and breathlessness are usual accompaniments of panic attacks, but may occur without panics. They do not signify heart or lung disease but are simply the expression of an overactive autonomic nervous system. Slow deep breathing and relaxation, as described under panic attacks, can do much to control these symptoms. Do not worry about them: they would be accepted as normal if you were running for a bus, and will do no more harm than if you really were!” “The Accidental Addict” by Di Porritt & Di Russell, 2006 Breathing and Lungs “Breathing difficulties are very common in withdrawal. People feel that they have to gasp for air, as if the oxygen has somehow run out. They sigh continually in the effort to get more air in their lungs. It is as though the breathing mechanism has been disrupted.” I hope this is helpful, Summer
[On...]
I have it too, it's really annoying, not to mention it's giving me sleep apnea. It will go away with the rest of the symptoms. This is not from Ashton's manual but here it is anyway; http://www.non-benzodiazepines.org.uk/benzo-withdrawal.html "Breathlessness, Chest discomfort and tightness, Difficulty breathing, Hyperventilation (overbreathing), Shallow breathing"

I am the type of person who seeks to know what is happening and why, it brings comfort to me. I hope it does the same for you. “The Accidental Addict” by Di Porritt & Di Russell, 2006 Anxiety “Almost everyone suffers from increased anxiety in withdrawal. People who take benzos to help their anxiety find that in the long run it comes back – only with a greater intensity.” “In amongst the chemically induced anxiety, unresolved issues may emerge from one’s earlier life. People may face repressed memories of, for example, abuse or abandonment that surface and cause anxiety.” Panic Attacks “Everyone experiences nervousness and panicky feelings at some time. This is a normal response to stressful situations such as exams or job interviews. An anxiety or panic attack feels similar, but is much more intense. Its onset is sudden and often without cause, and it usually lasts for a few minutes. The symptoms are: shaking, palpitations, difficulty breathing, chest pain or discomfort, a choking feeling, dizziness, unreality, pins and needles, faintness and sweating.” I hope this is helpful, Summer
[On...]
Btw, benzodiazepines are an efficient muscle relaxant and can effect the rib and back muscles and in the chest diaphragm as well, thus causing irregular less controlled breathing and autonomic dysfunction as well. [jo...]
Thank you Summer and On the Mend. Your quick replies are really appreciated. I will keep that in mind. My Symptoms will eventually go away. It is so difficult to keep it up. I just don't feel well everyday. I am so afraid that I will not go back to the normal life. It made me so depressed. I am slowly tappering down. Currently, I am on 0.6mg/daily of ativan. From your experience, to what daily dose of ativan, I will see the improvements? Can anyone share their experience?
