Month 3 - the hardest for many (and then healing???)

I am six weeks off the Ambien today.  This week has been the hardest in my w/d so far (dizziness/anxiety with some panic/tummy probs/headaches/insomnia).  I spend most of the night trying to ride an incredible wave of scary anxiety and sleep maybe three hours.  I am so exhausted.  As these difficult weeks go by (with few windows the last month) I wonder if it truly is the Ambien (in more well and rational moments I know that it is) that made me sooo ill.  But, prior to the Ambien I had NO issues like this.  It is the only thing that changed during that time.

Anyway, another poster mentioned that many buddies experience month 3 as their hardest month and then begin to see some real healing.  This gives me hope and would love to hear if that is true for many?

Months 3-6 were the most difficult for me (aside from my taper) and then since month 6 things have only improved.  I still have little dips and bad days, but they're not as severe or long-lived.  It's so strange that month 3 hits so many.  Just know this isn't the case for all...some never find they get worse...only slow and steady improvement.  Try not to worry about the 3 month mark.

All the best and congrats on coming so far!  Hugs!

I have also just hit three months and the dizzyness/anxiety have really cranked up in the last few days! I feel about to faint at times and just want to sleep, but not an option as I have to work and take care of things. This is awful and I am as scared as you are that this will not end! I hope other post to reassure us this is 3 month normal stuff. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better.

Hello Flea and turtlegirl,

Congratulations to both of you to reaching your 3rd month med free!!!! Yes, the 3 month mark can be tough.  I felt pretty good when I jumped off and returned to so many acitivities to be slammed about 5 weeks out and it lasted through the 3rd month.  After that point I had some real relief. As hard as it is try not to look at the calendar and put pressure on yourselves to feel better. Your body will heal, each in its own time.

When I compare the things I am able to do easily now compared to the 3 month mark, there is no comparision.

Hang in there buddies, your healing is on the way.

It's not unusual for the symptoms to get a little bit worse after a while.  So it has been for me, and once I hit the bottom, I had a plateau for little while and then started getting better. Once you are on the up and up, it's easier. You just have to get through it. Congratulations on being benzo free.

Never thought I could say it has gotten yet worse here -at almost 3 months.

Am just trying to hang on.

Thanks to all of you who made it through for reminding those seriously struggling -

that it can & will get better.

Can't hear that enough.

Thank you
