Guest [Da...]
I am considering switching to a once per day dose of my 11mg of Diazepam (Valium) to stop what I call "habitual trigger". Basically, what I mean by that is that I am taking my dosage every day late a.m. and p.m. and my mind will expect (like a habit thing) that twice/day dosage when I go lower and eventually when I'm off. So my reasoning is when I'm off benzos, the habit of taking something at nighttime only will be there; which I will have to deal with. Now, Diazepam has a longer half life so it is doable and it will take some adjusting to a once/day dose at nighttime. I guess I can just try it. Does any of this make sense to someone? Any thoughts? [pi...]
Hi Danni, I hope others will chime in here with some advice. Even though valium has a long half life it still might be a shock to your system to switch to a once a day dose. I also was taking valium twice a day and tapered down to .25 and first dropped the daytime dose and finally the nightime dose. pianogirl
[...]
I agree with pianogirl that switching to once a day may be a bit rough. Once you get lower in your daily dose I think you could probably focus on reducing the dose you take earlier in the day and finish your taper off by reducing your evening dose. It's a personal choice and everyone is different. Hope you find what works for you. Take care.
