Ativan to Klonopin

Hi,

 

I tapered down to 0.25 mg of Ativan and then doc told me to C/O to Klonopin. I am on 0.125mg and just woke up with numbness in my right hand while sleeping on my back. Anyone experience this? I am so scared.... Thanks!

I crossed from Ativan to Valium per Ashton. Klon has a bad reputation among many BB folks for causing protracted wd. The rumor is that it binds more tightly to the benzo receptors than other benzos. You might want to read the Ashton Manual and take it to your Doc. IMO.

 

My Cross over went smooth and I was much better on valium....it has a 200 hour half life and Ativan only has a 6 hour half life. Much easier to taper on at the lower levels than Ativan.

I doubt that the Klonopin has anything to do with it.  I get numbness in various extremities from time to time - like a few fingers - and I've been off benzos for years.  Maybe it's a circulation thing.  You didn't say but did that feeling go away after you were up and about?  Try not to let your mind go to those scary thoughts; it only increases anxiety which causes it's own set of potentially scary symptoms. (Google it and you will be amazed what all can be caused by "simple" anxiety!)
