[St...]
I had a burning hunger like I've never felt before in my life until withdrawal. I couldn't eat a lot because my stomach shrank so much, but yes, I had incredible hunger earlier on. That ravenous appetite went away after awhile. This is a crazy process, but things do eventually level out.
[tr...]
smuel I am famished. I had a Green Tea banana Frap + a chocolate chip cookie at Starbucks. Then for lunch I had some homemade ham slices, 2 handfuls of raw nuts and cube of dark chocolate Dinner was a big salad with an avacado and tuna in olive oil. I also had 2 kiwis and 2 clementines Now it is midnight. I had bowl of vanilla flavoured Yogurt Ice Cream. Then some Greek yogurt with pomegranate. A sugarless fruit cup, and a banana. [tr...]
Yesterday was Chinese. We have a local, all you can eat restaurant, that uses fresh veggies (local during the summer)and meats. Their sauces and spices are all concocted on-site, and absolutely no msg whatsoever. So I can eat all I want and that I did, to the the point that I was a bit overly stuffed. As in, I couldn't move. I got up three times to fill my plate, plus dessert. I ate mostly everything chicken, and few carbs. When I got home, sure enough, I was hungry again. The "but" being, that at the restaurant, I was in a lot of distress because I had eaten to much. I thought I was going to throw everything up. Yet there I was eating a banana, my yogurt and some fruit late at night. I am always hungry later in the night. Today, I thought I would take it easy with a salad. I could go for a pizza, if it wasn't for the fact that bread makes my tummy hurt.
[Kl...]
I had both nausea and a huge hunger at the same time. It was really bad if I let my stomach go empty....really bad nausea and hunger. I had to eat a little something every few hours. I would get up at 2am and eat a pre-cooked hamburger. During that time, I found that red meat like hamburger or steak seemed to hold up the best. Chicken and fish only lasted for a few hours. I have not had that problem now for several months although I still try to eat about every 4-5 hours. [sm...]
That is exactly what happens to me. I overeat sometimes when I am out, and because I am anxious I think I am going to throw it up, only to get home and want more food. Late at night I get hungry too. I should not be eating pizza, I found out I was a gluten sensitivity BUT I was soooo effin hungry it was the only thing that was going to be a good fix. I needed carbs. Now I can't think right, so probably not a good idea. Why is this so hard!!! Klondike- i have to eat every few hours too, sometimes red meat holds me over for longer, sometimes not. I have been able to sleep through the night lately without eating, but the first two months I was up sometimes twice in one night to eat. How annoying
[tr...]
Klondike The nausea is a more recent event. It hits me hard when I am bike riding and then, there is this strange sensation in my head. I also experience something, that reminds me of an sx, prior to coming off. Whenever the nausea hits, there is this chemical like scent. Strangely enough, it feels like it's coming from inside me, if that makes sense. Like something is evaporating and wafting upwards through my throat and into my brain. I then have to stop and drink water. Not fun at all. If I eat certain red meat, I get really sick. I can no longer tolerate beef or veal...though I have no problem with pork or lamb cuts of meat. Chicken and turkey are my favourite. While fresh or frozen fish makes me gag. Like smuel, I have suddenly gained gluten sensitivities, that I never had prior to w/d. Which makes me ask, how is that even possible. smuel I wish I had the answer to that question. I would pay anything, just to understand why our bodies are rebelling in this way. Still, even though I would probably pay dearly after the fact...what I wouldn't do for a pizza right now. Right now, I ate...have a benzo belly and yet, those hunger pangs will not go away. [sm...]
travuz- so funny, i can not tolerate red meat either. I eat chicken that is it. I believe when we are so hypersensitive that really anything we eat right now is difficult for our bodies. I know first hand that stress can cause a gluten intolerance, it happened to me and my brother, prior to benzo. I also developed an intolerance to red meat prior to benzo too, I was that stressed and out of whack. So some of these are not new for me. Something tells me its part of the cns system being damaged. The Nausea is no fun and for about 9 months it was my worst symptom. Phenergan really helped me on my worst days with nausea. I often felt like there was something really wrong in my gut and my wife said my breath was terrible. At one point the gastroenterologist even put a camera down my throat to look around in my stomach......he did not see any ulcers or other problems but he put me on 80mg of Prilosec/day anyway. Big mistake and I got really sick about 3 weeks later........I wish I had know then that nausea was a very common wd and that 70% of our benzo receptors are in our stomach. I still can not eat spicy foods like Pizza or Mexican. But if you are having nausea and intolerance to some foods at the same time then make sure you have not gotten candida ( yeast in your gut or systemically). This usually happens after a long period of antibiotics. It causes a compromised immune system and has a huge list of possible symptoms just like Benzo wd. If this fits you, try going on a very strict Atkins diet for 3 or 4 days (zero carbohydrates or sugars....only meat, eggs, green vegetables. No milk or salad dressing) and see if nausea, anxiety and depression decrease dramatically. Take a very strong probiotic at the same time. And take an antifungal like garlic or coconut oil or caprilic acid. You need to re-establish the bacteria in your gut. Yeast can out compete bacteria for carbs and sugars so stay away from those for a while and see if it helps. I have seen a number of folks on BB who are dealing with benzo wd and candida at the same time......yuck! If you think you have candida see a doctor or natural path....they have much better antifungals like diflucan and nystatin....been there. The good news is that the yeast symptoms disappear quickly with treatment....but you need to treat for a long time to get rid of them for good. [Be...]
I get like that during windows sometimes. Usually, during waves and the intermediate periods, I'm just kind of normal or below normal as far as food intake. I think it has a lot to do with how my stomach is feeling (which is off most of the time). However, yes, when I start to feel better, I become ravenous.
